Dehiwala-Mount Lavinia (Sinhalese: දෙහිවල-ගල්කිස්ස Dehiwala-Galkissa, Tamil: தெஹிவளை-கல்கிசை), population 245,974 (2012) is the second largest Municipality in Sri Lanka, and covers an extent of 2109 hectares. It lies south of the Colombo Municipal Council area and separated from it by the Dehiwala canal which forms the northern boundary of DMMC. Its southern limits lie in Borupana Road and the eastern boundary is Weras Ganga with its canal system and including some areas to its east (Pepiliyana, Gangodawila and Kohuwala). This town has extensive population and rapid industrialization and urbanization in recent years. It is home to Sri Lanka's National Zoological Gardens, which remains one of Asia's largest. Colombo South Teaching Hospital, Kalubowila and Colombo Airport, Ratmalana are some important landmark in this area. Dehiwela-Mount Lavinia and Sri Jayawardenapura Kotte being two large suburban centers of the city of Colombo function together as one large urban agglomeration in the Region (Western Province). The overspill from the City in residential and commercial uses of land have rapidly urbanised these suburban centers. Dehiwela-Mount Lavinia and Sri Jayawardenpaura along with Colombo Municipal Council form the most urbanized part of the core area of the Colombo Metropolitan Region. Dehiwala and Mount Lavinia lie along the Galle Road artery, which runs along the coast to the south of the country.

I really like this restaurant. It's quite small, nicely furnished and the food is just excellent! You get big portions (a medium rice is definitely good enough for two people) and the service is very polite and friendly. Try it and you will love it!

It was surprising how quality the food was as compared with the very reasonable prices. The ambiance was so inviting and humble with a romantic touch. The restaurant is located within Movenpick hotel, Colombo which is a prime location. We visited this place last Friday evening for dinner. We ordered a Tom yum soup which was hopeless. It was so disappointing. The steamed rice was very cold the cuttle fish & devilled meat dish was of very little quantity & didn't taste good. I've been to Steam boat many times before & this time it was very disappointing.

We stayed in a guest house close to the Mount Lavinia beach on the 1st of January and we were advised by the host to just walk few meters and find a beachfront restaurant. The closest restaurant was packed and we walked few more meters and located Jo Joâs bar/restaurant. It was also full, but the nice waiters brought a table and chairs for us to be very close to water.It was the full moon and the moonlit beach and festive atmosphereâfamilies frolicking in water and occasional fireworks flying over the oceanâmade it a very special evening. Humorously, they did not serve beer because full moon was a religious holiday, but they did not mind opening a bottle of wine for us. The food we orderedâdeviled fish, kotthu, fish & chips & kankungâalso tasted very good. All in all, it was a great evening at Jo Joâs.

We ordered food from Flower Drum for a business event. The food was so tasty and everyone loved their chicken and corn soup. The staff was very supportive and friendly , they made sure everything went well till the end. Today is my daughter's birthday, instead of our usual beach side restaurant in wellawatta, we visited "Loon Tao" today for lunch.Place was nice and cooler.Menu had more varieties, more seating area, etc.....Food taste was not so great, but just ok.Parking was just a bit far away about 200m away from the restaurant.Dear Guest.
