We've been going here on and off for 15 years. It has always been better than most northern NJ Chinese places. On this visit we found the food over salted even though we told the waiter "very little salt". This doesn't fit our liking or our health.
For years we had gone to an old favorite, Chengdu 46, when the urge struck for some good Chinese food. We were greatly saddened when it closed, but the restaurant was nicely renovated and is now Chef Yang. We wondered if it would be as good as Chengdu 46 had once been, and much to our delight, it is even better. The main dining room is stylish and comfortable, and the service was both friendly and efficient. The food itself was authentic and excellent. It is always good to go in a group so many different dishes can be ordered offering the opportunity to get a taste of many items. We did just that sharing five different appetizers and and five entrees, all of which were nicely prepared and delicious. The menu offers Stone-Pot Casseroles, "New Style" Sichuan Food, cold dishes, Dim Sum. soup, and the main dishes (seafood, chicken, beef, pork, or vegetable). I particularly enjoyed the spicy dumpling appetizer and the entree of shredded beef with spicy green pepper. There is a full bar for your beverage needs. I will be back for sure, for finding good higher level Chinese food is not always easy, and Chef Yang has it.
