When it comes to Teriyaki, there are a lot of factors that I look for when visiting an establishment for my first time. I am a teriyaki connoisseur. The elements that I critique a teriyaki restaurant on are meat, cooking method, salad dressing, variety, overall appearance of the food and the restaurant and of course, the sauce! I'll break it down. The meat needs to be fresh and tender. I've been to places where the meat is full of too much fat and grisle. That does not play well with teriyaki. The meat should be well seasoned and marinated and melt in your mouth with every little bite sized piece. This place did the chicken right. They also use dark meat chicken which is key. I don't mind if a teriyaki place has white meat chicken but it better darn well be listed as an option on the menu. I do not like to be surprised with a chopped up dry chicken breast impersonating my would be delicious meal. A teriyaki chicken breast should be served whole like the salmon. This joint uses the correct cooking method as well. An open flame. Teriyaki is marinated in its own sauce and that sauce is chock full of delicious sugars that when cooked right, caramelize into a crunchy sweet glaze adding that something special to the flavor. My chicken was charred just right and tasted good. If the restaurant serves salad then I always look forward to the dressing. It's a house made dressing based on mayo with other ingredients and when done right, it's amazing. The dressing on my salad did not disappoint. What is disappointing however are teriyaki restaurants that only offer steamed or grilled veggies usually consisting of cabbage and carrots with their entrées. I prefer a salad or at least the option. The variety I look for is in the menu and this is a double edged sword. Some places have nearly everything I'm looking for. Some places have way more than I would ever want and some places have all the right stuff. This place has a great balanced selection. It's teriyaki and wok because they offer Chinese dishes as well as Japanese. I really love a combo plate of teriyaki chicken and General Tso's. I also like the option of fried gyoza or steamed and if a place offers fried gyoza and doesn't have tempura, I get pretty bummed. If the restaurant in question has anything in the name or on the menu that isn't Chinese or Japanese then it's best not to even enter. You've seen the place. Teriyaki & Burger. Those places in my experience don't do either type of food very well. Most teriyaki restaurants are just little hole in the wall places and this place follows suite so I never really expect the unique Asian experience but I do want a clean place to eat that isn't sticky. This place was okay but could be cleaner. They don't have a soda fountain so you have to buy cans or bottles but they do offer free hot tea which was really good and water. Another thing that was missing were chopsticks. I didn't see any anywhere and I was not offered any. Also, the sauce that came with my tempura wasn't enough. I could have asked for more and I'm sure they would have obliged but I feel that if you're going to serve a dish that comes with its own dipping sauce, you should serve enough sauce for the entire dish. The reason I didn't ask for more tempura sauce was simply because it wouldn't have made the tempura any better. My advice at this restaurant is not to order it if it needs to be deep fried. The batter was really thick and was hard and chewy on the outside and raw and doughy on the inside. I couldn't tell what most of the vegetables were until I bit into them and that's because they slice up tiny pieces of the veggies and fry them. There's more batter than vegetable for most of the dish. This place doesn't do tempura well at all. Lastly, the teriyaki sauce. This place has a pretty good sauce. I like a thicker sauce that's sweet but not too sweet. They got the not too sweet part right but their sauce could have a little more flavor. Maybe more garlic or ginger. No extra sauce was served with my entrée and they don't have bottles of their teriyaki sauce on the table so I didn't have any to pour over my rice like I would have liked but I made do with what was on the plate. Overall, out of 5 stars, I gave this place 3 because I would return but it wouldn't be my first choice. As of now, it's the best I've had in Burien but the only thing I have to compare it to is I Love Teriyaki just down the road a couple of blocks. To the reviewers who say that this is the best place in town, you may be right but it's far from the best that I've had. If you're looking at this review to decide whether or not you want to eat here them I recommend it. You shouldn't be disappointed. Pro tip: they have a cart with bus tubs on it towards the front door. It's for you to place your dishes and trash in after you're done with your meal. Don't leave your dishes on the table. Thanks for reading
This place might have good food. We never made it that far. We walked in asked for a take out menu. Was handed a real menu. Waitress walked away and the place was dingy and everyone in it was kinda creepy lookin... druggies is what came to mind. We decided not to eat. Yuck. I just couldn't feel comfortable about how my food might be prepared... yuck. Yuck. Yuck!
Okay, we expected fast-food but our first time at a Panda Express restaurant was certainly our last. We've been travelling Asia for months and this food doesn't even come close. Pretty tasteless, not really hot (sitting there in trays that are supposed to keep the food hot but don't really) and the chicken entree I've had was not chicken breast but rather bad quality meat. Also the chop-sticks aren't smooth and leave a very "woody feeling" in your mouth. The lady serving us was very nice however and the restaurant (except the restrooms) was clean - so if you usually like Panda Express food this outlet will probably not disappoint you :)!

I stop at the Happy Garden mostly for take away, though we have eaten in the restaurant too. The staff is always really friendly, even when super busy, and I can highly recommend the Kung Pao tofu. This is a great choice for casual friendly dining in Burien.

Real egg Egg Rolls! Rich brown sweet and sour sauce on spare ribs! Sumptuous Subgum! Crave-worthy Chinese cuisine. Glad to hear they did away with the pink/red sweet and sour gel sauce and went back to the tried, true and delicious recipes from the original owners. Don't mess with perfection and we will keep coming back!

King WHA's has been there forever! The staff is friendly and service is fast. The food is cooked fresh with fresh ingredients. No fancy "fusion" cooking here, just simple, recognizable, hot and delicious Chinese-American food. Our favorites are the Honey Walnut Prawns and the Beef and Green Beans. Their fried rice is good too. The prices are great and the servings are big enough to take left-overs home for lunch the next day. This is our "I'm hungry, Go-To" place.
