After a year's absence, we went back to the Asia Restaurant Saigon and enjoyed another very good crispy duck dinner - mine in a soy sauce, my wife's in a tamarind sauce. The restaurant opened in Breisach in 2010 and every time we have been there we have had a very good dinner.

This place is worth signaling because it's an exception and a delightful surprise. In Europe and in the USA, too many « Chinese » restaurants in the ordinary price range offer very ordinary food at best and when they propose an all-you-can-eat buffet, you know what the quality is likely to be. Here you won't find the Chinese dishes you know but interesting and very good variations with some fusion-cooking sauces invented by the husband-and-wife owners who will also serve your meal. If you don't speak German, they'll understand you in English or French. The platters appear over tea light candles. So it's mainly Chinese à la carte and the buffet includes an invent-your-own-stir-fry option, created by a Japanese chef who also adds some sushi to the choice of appetizers. Now this is really aiming to please! Try the local Kaiserstuhl wines. Pleasant traditional Chinese decor. Pleasant experience all around. And for what you would pay at any forgettable restaurant in town.
