Located just inside the balikpapan super block area, made it easy for us to find this place. On top of family favorite suki, they also offer delicious dimsum and other chinese foods. The taste is good, as it maintains the high reputation of Blue Sky group. The place is also comfortable, it provides both smoking and non smoking seating. The price, if you dont have credit card promotion, is a bit pricey, compared to other similar places.

The Mandarin is still the best Chinese restaurant in Balikpapan. The restaurant is very clean and the service is good. The nasi goreng kepiting, the sapi a la vietnam, the udang mayonese and the kangkun hot plate are my favorite dishes but everything I ate there is very good. For your information: they don't serve pork and the kitchen closes at 2 pm for lunch and just re-open at 6 pm for dinner.

I went with my Girlfriend because she wanted to try it, having heard about it from friends. Before going I had read reviews on TripAdvisor saying the Suki was overpriced, so decided to avoid that.We arrived late lunch on Sunday, with about 65% of the tables being empty, most of which were dirty. They guided us to a table near the front of the restaurant and we sat down. The waitress brought us menus and stood waiting to take our order. This is something I have noticed all over Indonesia, the waiting staff are never trained to plan time and service correctly (take a drinks order, bring back the drinks, allow the customers to study the menu, then take the order) however it could be because the Indonesian people (usually the women) never read the menu and always ask the waiting staff what they have. The waitress gave us our drinks and went away, leaving us to study the menu. The menu was disappointing. It is a standard restaurant chain menu, thicker pages for strength and easily wiped to keep it clean (unfortunately both menus felt a little sticky and dirty). The variety is OK (if it was all available), but it is noticable that the majority of items offered are factory made items, âtake from a box and cookâ (you can cook them in your own home for less). The menu had hand written stickers, almost on every page, saying âSold Outâ, as an estimation, 30-40%.In one area, of the two pages facing each other, only 20% of the products were available; this is very poor management by the company, seeing as most of the food is factory made; if it is not, the standard was very disappointing. This scenario is not due to a busy lunchtime service, but a long term failure. We ordered:SiomayPrawn Roll FriedSmall Bread Roll with Chicken insideBeef with Black Pepper½ Roast DuckBrocolli with GarlicWhite Rice1 beer and 1 fruit juiceThe rice was brought to the table within 10 minutes of being ordered and we thought the food would arrive soon; how wrong we were. After a further 15 minutes we asked where our food was, 10 minutes later the food started to arrive, we had to ask for the rice to be replaced, so we had hot rice to eat with the other dishes. As has previously been reported, the duck was good. The brocolli was nice and it was cooked properly, a little firm to the tooth. The black pepper beef was disappointing, in fact bland, it was in a factory style black pepper sauce that had little flavour and no spice that could be tasted. The rest of the food was average and edible. As for the Suki, we could see the refrigerators with all the opened containers of Suki in them; open to the elements and peopleâs fingers and sneezing. We observed several people visit and take containers after picking others up, sometimes holding them close to their noses and sniffing them. This was not the worst thing we saw, many children were visiting the refrigerators with their guardians and their fingers were prodding the food, we saw one lick some food and put it back. We all know childrenâs fingers regularly go down the front and back of their pants as well as up their noses and in their mouths, without being washed. The staff were courtious, but a little disorganised. When the bill came we were unpleasantly surprised how expensive it was, it was no cheaper than going to Oceanâs Restaurant, considered one of the more expensive restaurants in Balikpapan and despite some of the doubtful management I have experienced there (see other reviews), I would say the cooking is far superior, mainly because it is prepared and cooked on site.If you want Asian fast food similar to this I would suggest looking elsewhere in Balikpapan, perhaps go to Tah Wan in Balikpapan Plaza, where the food is similar, but much cheaper and quicker.I am sorry to say I will not return to this restaurant again.

Chanced upon this eatery situated inside the pentacity mall. Ordered quite a lot though for a single person and was excellent. Order took some time but good. Pricey a bit though. Good ambience inside, reasonable crowd walking in. It was a Sunday afternoon and a day that went well with my late lunch.

This was an old restaurant in Balikpapan, the building still using wood. The location was near traditional market. Most of the meal using pork since the menu was chinese food and would be more crowded at night. The price was reasonable since the taste was good and the portion was big enough (too big for eating alone)

I understand this is the second Dinasti in Balikpapan, the original is on Jl. Jendral Ahmad Yani near the Pacific Hotel.I have not stayed in the restaurant to eat because I live only a short distance away, but I have eaten several take-aways from here. The decor and furniture is functional, but it is the food you go for, not the interior design. It is clean. The menu is varied and has enough selection to satisfy everyone; including pigeon and frog. The food is well cooked, tasty and the portions are quite generous.Recently my fiancée and I had a soup steamboat (made for a takeaway), Beef, Kailan, Shanghai Spring Roll and Dinasti special fried rice.It was very well cooked, thoroughly enjoyable and made us 2 full meals; as well as costing only Rp267,000!I would recommend anyone to try here; as long as you are an experienced Expat and not too fussy, I do not think you will be disappointed.

I took public transportation to get here at night to fulfill my curious thought about this place. Indeed, this place is not big and not may not in your sight since this place is so humble. I insist to visit this place based on many good reviews about mantau and beef black pepper here. My friend order Fried Crab Noodle, Kwetiau Seafood and me, of course, order fried mantau and the beef black pepper. OMG they are like dancing on my tongue! very delicious!
