Read good reviews so went to this place expecting good food.Owner and staff are great, really friendly and kind.Location lovely, in the middle of a small square, with nice lighting and canopy.Food - average.Thoughts: They would do well not to specialise on having fish from the lake, most of which are small and thus underwhelming when served on a plate.Mains arrived simply as is, without vegetables or something to complement the meat. Left feeling that the portions were too small to justify the price and too small to justify fine dining. We arent big portion type people either - but if its small, then the quality has to be there, which it wasnt this time.Lovely people though and was glad to support them.Dear Stephen, thank you for the review and kind words. Our thoughts:1.Our fish is the freshest wild fish from the lake we live on. We serve it in FILET and so our portions are all cleaned, no bones, no head, nothing to discard; we cook it using 100% italian (local!) e.v.olive oil and the finest raw materials. if you don't see "quality" here, I do not know wherever else...For the same reasons, we do not think that 13 euro could be considered a high price for a wild fresh fish portion like this .2. In Italy, I mean in real italian restaurants, none serves a main course that includes vegetables or rice or anything else. In Italy, we have sidedishes to choose and combine. If you found anywhere a big plate with fish or meat and rice/vegetables or whaterver included...believe me, it was a touristic restaurant. And I'm sorry to say that these restaurants are not the best.3. If all our foreign visitors are so delighted by the quality of our food, maybe you should consider the idea that it's not about our quality, but it's about your taste. It's sad to say, but we can not meet the tastes of everyone in the world.thank you for your visit

We are in Rome for a week of vacation and wanted to get out of the city for an evening for a good dinner and this was the perfect place. We took a taxi there and back for about $40 Euro each way (definitely pricey). The building itself is very pretty and photogenic. The restaurant has a warm, casual elegance to it with a wood burning fireplace at one end. Service was very professional, warm and friendly. Probably the best restaurant service weâve experienced in Rome so far. The food was excellent and not too expensive. We had a local cheese platter to start and had ricotta ravioli with black truffle (excellent) a really fantastic Irish filet with black truffles, a fresh garden salad, and the beef cheeks. All great. Wine list was small but well done. I didnât love my dessert (coffee mousse with cookie crumble) but that was fine since the rest of the meal was wonderful. There were lots of local couples having âdate nightsâ there. It definitely seems to be a local special occasion / romantic place. More of a 4 star hotel ambiance and not 5 star (just so you know what to expect). But well worth the trip out!

Ristorante situato nel Parco di Vejo , con una fantastica vista sulle âcascate della Molaâ corso dâacqua che alimentava un antico Mulino a pietra
First you have to cross a small little bridge to get to the other side and on the left you will see a waterfall where loads of people simply have to take a picture, which we did too, many times. Then you go up some flight of steps and seems like the place is carved into the side of a hill. The food is excellent and the service superb. My friend, who discovered this place took her staff for an end of the year luncheon and they all enjoyed every morsel they devoured.....something that doesn't always happen every year.If you don't want to be disappointed, a reservation would be advisable.
Where to eat Italian food in Formello: The Best Restaurants and Bars

L'antipasto è semplicemente soddisfacente e buonissimo. Davvero ottimi i primi. Tutto espresso e di stagione. Unica nota, se proprio devo essere pignolo, è il vino che era leggermente"spuntato" , ma ad ogni modo ancora bevibile e buono, il che dava alla situazione quella sensazione di osteria di una volta. Piatti abbondanti e soprattutto squisiti. Personale molto cortese. Da prova e da tornare.

When a local Italian friend offered to take me to this out of the way restaurant in the outskirts of Rome, I wondered why we would go so far and on a seemingly remote road and village. But now I know the secret that Romans know of how amazing this place is. The food I ate was just amazing and left me dreaming of when I would go back again. The place was full of Italians and I ate Kyobe beef and stunning vegetables like chickory and artichoke done Roman style and fresh homemade bread and anti pasta like nowhere before. The atmosphere inside the small restaurant is divine with small beautiful decorated rooms and tables and a stunning visible cellar with incredible choice of wine . The deserts were also amazing !!! I can not wait to go again and I will certainly make this a yearly trip when I come to re from Australia each year. My Italian friend advised that it is always good to book in advance as it is very popular and you may not get a table otherwise . Definitely a Michelin quality place

I have been there for saturday lunch with family. The setting is a picturesque alleyway in Formello's old town. Staff is very friendly and knowledgeable of the menu. We had really tasty pasta of tonnarelli with cheese and walnut. We also had a delicious main course arrosticini with cicoria and we ended lunch with âla biondinaâ a mouthwatering dessert. As a bonus, they use local suppliers. Overall was a really pleasant experience and It is definitively a place I recommend visiting.
