Things to do in Wil
The Café Stalder in Uzwil, Switzerland is a spacious cafe that serves brunch and lunch, and is open on Sundays for those looking for a nice place to eat a traditional meal. They have friendly service and were open to our family of four with two children, eight and ten. There is a small children's menu and some vegetarian offerings as well.On Sunday, they have special brunch menus. I had to Cordon Blue Schnitzel with fries and roasted vegetables. The schnitzel was well prepared, moist and full of flavor. The roasted carrots and, in particular, the fennel were very good. My wife had the Rosti with tomatoes, which was good, but perhaps a bit bland and the portion was large. Our daughters had the Wiener Schnitzel and the Chicken Nuggets respectively, and both finished theirs easily and spoke highly of the food. The salads were fresh, although they added too much dressing. The service was friendly and accommodating. Although I began ordering in German, once the server realized the kids were American, she easily slipped into English. In all, this was a serendipitous find and I've added it here in the hope that more people find it as they might be passing through the area.

We visit this Restaurant on Mothersday for lunch. The place inside was very close so we decided to stay outside. The Importent Things are very great. The Staff was very friendly and does a great service. The different meals was served on the same time. They was hot, fresh and tasty.I recommend this reataurant, but go on a simply day.The Parkinglot is very small, and had not enough space 4 holliday festivals.

I don't know why there was so many people there compared to the other restaurants that day. It's in the old town? Not in a beautiful spot ?So I enjoy eating lonely my excellent meal served in a nice plate. You should not missed The tiramisu ...The service was average but ok except the slow Swiss way of paying your bill !?

Apparently there are two "Lὠwen" in the general area...this is the good one!Ample parking around the building.I was early and was greeted by the Chef and was seated by the very charming wife. The place is 'warmly' decorated with much attention to detail. You can tell it is a family business and run by somebody who cares.Upon request, the wife recommended a superb wine...a 2011 blended red from Argentina, Benmarco Espressivo at CHF 81. Not cheap for a So.American wine, but really worth it.The Amuse Bouche was a small dish of Roast Beef, salad leaves and cheese.Although the a la carte menu looked very interesting, I had the menu of the day. You could select from 3 to 6 dishes at various price levels, from CHF 62 to 97. I choose 5 courses at CHF 85.I had as a starter a 'Tepid Seafood Salad'. It was a very large and excellent dish.It was followed by a Cream Soup of Carrots and Oranges with Vanilla Foam. Absolutely delicious.I did not order the following offer on the menu, which was Calfs Liver with Truffles Polenta.I had a difficult choice between the 'Beef Steak with Rocket and Parmesan, Sautéed Potatoes and Vegetables' and the 'Sautéed Filets of Four Sea- and Lake fishes with Lemon Rice and Vegetables'. I chose the Beef dish. It was a perfectly cooked piece of beef, tender and succulent. ...and the wine went very well with it!I had the cheese plate, which also contained some interesting local goat cheeses. The dessert plate was a variety of 4 small 'sweets' and fresh berries. The place filled up as the evening went along and between the wife and a second lady, it was very well handled...I could not fault "the service".

Whilst staying in Uzwil at the hotel Uzwil I ate in their restaurant the first night and was very impressed with the food, excellent quality, nice choices on the menu and perfectly cooked.I found the staff to be so friendly and very happy to advise a non german speaking guest like myself, very nice people.I am not used to hotel food normally being so good so was very pleasantly surprised.Dear Mrs. Leicester, Thank you very much for choosing the Hotel Uzwil and Brasserie Allegra during your recent trip to Uzwil and for sharing your views with us on Tripadvisor. It is always a great pleasure to read so positive comments on the quality and preparation of the food, the choices in the menu and, of course, the friendliness of our team. I have shared your encouragements with my entire team and I know this will further motivate them to keep up with their good work.We truly hope to be able to welcome you back to the Hotel Uzwil in the very near future.Yours sincerely, Roland RhynerGeneal Manager
pour un diner pas trop copieux, je fus agréablement surpris par les portions. Choix des vins assez modeste, mais intéressant pour les vins suisses.

Delicious Italian food with a rich selection that will not let you down! Italian food comes in two categories: authentic and commercial and this is certainly authentic! The restaurant is located in the old town in Wil which adds to its charm and is in a small house setting with many windows. The atmosphere was nice and warm and the decor of the restaurant was simple but really nice and makes one feel relaxed. The produce is obviously fresh from the taste of the dishes- the gnocchi was excellent and the beef carpaccio with the truffles is not to be missed! Their menu and suggestions are written out on a big board- trust the waitress, she is great! The whole team working there seems very nice actually and was very helpful. The chef is Italian. Since the restaurant owners also have a wine store across the street, their selection is impressive and you can have very good wines there. I strongly recommend this restaurant, but one word of caution and this should not be strange to visitors in Switzerland, it is not cheap but worth the cost.

excellent restored typical swiss country inn with a very nice outside seating (gastgarten) and the attached barn with open front side.the servants took the order very quickly and with a smile on their face - one feels welcome immediately.the typical lunch menu comes with a soup, main dish and a dessert of fruits.presentation of food, creativity and the taste can be described as excellent.i would not know a negative point during our lunch there.ambience couldn't be much better.this is a very recommendable place to have lunch or dinner - excellent kitchen and feel good ambience.

Thanks to the Guide Michelin I discovered this lovely restaurant, where I enjoyed a flawless dinner. Located within the beautiful Old Town, Hof zu Wil is a 15-minute-walk from the train station.Despite being part of a historic building, the dining room is bright and modern. Thumbs-up for the friendly welcome and most attentive service, partly performed by the tenant herself. The menu is Swiss traditional, with focus on seasonal and regional produce. As starter I had an asparagus tart with fresh spinach leaves - light and tasty. As main course I chose the escalopes of Toggenburg lamb, served with a flavourful ratatouille. Delicious and very generous portion: the lamb was perfectly cooked, rosa and tender. I ended my dinner with a good strawberry crumble. In high-price Switzerland the bill remained reasonable, in particular for dinner time: CHF85 for the whole meal. Definitely an address to remember.
