Cosy restaurant serving basic but fresh food. We stayed a week in the area and this was the best restaurant we visited. Service was really friendly, especially considering our toddler likes to explore all corners of the place and opening all drawers. I really recommend this place!

We had a dinner here having being recommended by the Hotel we we're staying in. It really was an excellent meal proving that German food can really good and tasty & not just pork & sauerkraut! Excellent, highly recommended.

The location of the restaurant was beautiful with great views from the outdoor seating. The food was also excellent. I would highly recommend the trout! The service was frustratingly slow. There were several servers but it was difficult to flag their attention and they didn't seem to communicate orders amongst each other. It ended up being almost a 3 hour lunch.

From the sparklng wine waiting for us in the room, via the balcony directly overlooking the babbling brook, to the extremely modern shower, everything about the room was just about spot-on. The receptionist-come-waitress was extremely helpful and spoke good English (to help us out with our poor German). Bed was comfortable, breakfast decent - don't be phased by the shower controller which is a little daunting at first glance - just press 1 for the overhead drench-shower, 2 and 3 do the hand-held one. Room-size was a little on the small-side, but the balcony more thann made up for that.

This centrally located hotel has been most tastefully restored. My room had a 'juliet' balcony overlooking the street. The room was rather hot, there having been an unexpected unseasonable burst of hot 32C weather so they provided a fan. Breakfasts were enjoyable and on two of our four night stay we had excellent dinners.

They are open for lunch. Close at 230 and reopen at 530 for dinner. It is small with limited tables. So you may have to wait. The food is very good traditional German cuisine. Service is local and friendly.

This place is a gem. We were recommended it by a local shopkeeper in Schonwald - and found it a few miles through some mountain roads, at the bottom of a ski-run. Lovely old gasthof, full of Black Forest charm with a regular menu of schnitzel and meat.I was fully resigned to another plate of salad and french fries, but was pleasantly surprised when my fiancee pointed to a vegetarian dish on the menu. The waiter confirmed it was completely vegetarian and I dived-in...The plate that arrived was superb. A smorgasbord of different root veg and legumes, all cooked nicely and although most of it was braised or fried, it wasn't heavy in the slightest. Even brough me around to the dreaded fenell! I hate that root, but this braised version was absolutely delicious, I'm converted. If you get a chance to visit this place GO, the food was superb (all my meat-eating partners loved it) and the ambience and staff were superb.recommended unreservedly.

Husband and I shared his meal of pork medallions w spaetzle and cream of mushroom sauce. Waitress was good, not overly friendly (Iâve decided that Germany is just not that friendly) and somewhat tricked us into buying a salad with our meal by making the entree sound as though it came with a salad. The salad was good and we ate it, but would not have ordered it if we hadnât thought it was included with the meal. I got a bowl of tomato soup, good flavor and served hot. Restaurant is easy to get to and is on the Main Street.

Dinner here was fabulous. The food was delicious. Service was fantastic. Our waitress Gabi was very helpful AND she spoke English. The interior of the restaurant was incredible. The steak was brought out on a hot stone where you continued to cook it exactly how you liked it....rare, medium, well done. There also was a salad bar where you could take all you wanted. The restaurant is very close to Freiburg (the place for Cuckoo Clocks) so you can buy your hand made clock and come here for a delicious dinner.

We got there a little late and were worried if they would still serve us. They were so accommodating and their food was to die for! The restaurant is so charming on a little pond/lake. Their service was exceptional and friendly! Not real common in some places in Germany. They made us feel so welcome and at home. We would have eaten there again but we were only in town one night!
