We stopped in at this restaurant on our drive through Austria and had a good feeling right away. The restaurant was very clean and organized and well played out and you could tell the owners took a lot of pride in their establishment. Service was quick and we got by in broken English and German. We all ordered schnitzel and spaetzle and were provided some of the biggest and best schnitzels we ever had the pleasure of being served. We ordered water to drink and this establishment ended up being the sole one on our trip that provided glasses of water at no charge. It was a little thing but very welcome too. I would highly recommend Gasthof Leitner.

Manuel Ressi - a top chef, returned to his native area. Cooking traditional regional cuisine, it is a must to stop there! Ideal overnight location next door "Kaiser von Ãsterreich" B&B. Friendly service and an ongoing Chef - perfect & authentic evening !! We will come back!

When driving through Hermagor on our quest for a nice place to have dinner, we followed the signs "Schloss Lerchenhof". This "Schloss" turned out to be a beautiful historic Austrian villa, situated in a large garden with several outbuildings. Schloss Lerchenhof is a "Schlosshotel" as well as a restaurant with Austrian cuisine. In the garden, ample parking space is present. As the weather was balmy, we sat at one of the tables on the forecourt. To enhance the Austrian "Old World" experience, the waitresses wore typical Austrian dresses. Reviewing the meal: My appetizer consisted of five varieties of cured bacon, all home cured. The main course was sweet water trout. Of course, as the menu is Austrian, a "Wienerschnitzel" (with cranberry sauce) can be ordered. The meal was very satisfactory, only the prices are a shade higher than is usual in local Austrian restaurants. The service of the staff was dedicated and friendly. To be recommended. However, it transpired, that the hotel is frequented by motor cycle enthusiasts. It detracts from the soothing experience when the motor cycle club arrive at the hotel during the meal, because of the high level of decibels these arrivals produce.
