This is a wonderful, classic Hungarian restaurant in a beautifully restored 100+ year old building with a wine cellar that goes back even further. Great menu with great food, excellently served in a wonderful setting at very fair prices. Edit (Edith), the owner/hostess was charming and showed us around. If you're going to make a side excursion to this quaint little town about 30 minutes outside of Budapest, this restaurant is the place you should eat.

This restaurant offers a broad selection of mostly Hungarian dishes, including soups, stews, fish, pork, veal, turkey and game as well as an excellent selection of fish soups. The list of desserts is quite exciting ant the prices are moderate. It is a few blocks north of town, right on the Danube, which offers good views of the river.

This restaurant is located at the end of the touristic street , you will not find there the menu on different languages , but you will get amazing service , beautiful view and great seats on a terrace where you can see the everyday life of the local people. The food was cheap, but the quality was really high.

Three of us stopped by Dalmat Szamar Bistro on a Sunday afternoon in mid-December 2016. This was our first visit here. The place is small, but was not particularly crowded when we arrived. The atmosphere is cozy and friendly, with a special treat to those whose happen to notice the fresco painted on the ceiling.Service was friendly, and soon after the waitress took our drink and food orders our drinks arrived. We each ordered the special Thai soup, a creamy coconut-based soup as well as a main course. It seemed to take a long time for the soups to arrive, but we didn't pay much mind to it as we weren't in a hurry and were enjoying our conversation. The wait for our main courses, however, was another matter. While we waited, most of the other tables filled up and these people were all served before us. After a while longer, the waitress said our food would be out soon, but we still waited. After about 40 minutes, we were ready to leave, and I got up and went to the bar to ask where our food was. The dishes finally arrived about ten minutes later. By this time, we had lost our friendly mood, and were bemoaning the fact that it was practically dark outside now.The chicken with grilled vegetables I ordered had tough, overcooked chicken breast pieces mixed with rather ordinary and uninteresting vegetables, the same combination of eggplant, peppers, potatoes and zucchini that you'll find in just about any other Hungarian restaurant offering "grill zoldseg." Nothing special about it, and a letdown after the delicious soup.We didn't stick around for dessert, wanting to get home before midnight, and asked for the check. The waitress apologized for the screw-up with our order and gave us a 10% discount on the bill, but we were still disappointed. Oh, and this place is cash only.Yes, I know this can happen anywhere, and hopefully this was just bad luck for us. I might want to give them another chance in the future. The soup was quite good, and perhaps there are other more interesting things on the menu for a main dish. We'll see.

The restaurant was founded by Németh János and his family while the Iron Curtain still existed in 1982. It was named after âRab Rábyâ, a novel by Jókai Mór, the protagonist of which fought against corruption during the reign of Joseph II and lived in Szen
One of Hungary's top tourist destination, Szentendre, just 14 miles north of Budapest, has numerous restaurants and Rab Ráby has proven to be our favorite. We have always been satisfied with selection, quality, and prices and our last week's visit there was no exception. It is virtually impossible to get in without prior reservation as travel agencies bring dozens of tour groups all year round. The four of us went there recently for lunch and despite the somewhat unfriendly remark of a young waiter (who instead of welcoming us said âI cannot guarantee fast service as the tour group was lateâ) his lady colleague accomodated all of our requests in a timely fashion. We got fast service and good food â what else do you need in a restaurant? The menu is translated into various languages so tourists should not have any problem if they come here without a tourguide. Their goulash soup and Hortobagyi pancake were second to none according to our American guests. Every room of the restaurant is fully decorated with antiques and various art objects, you cannot find an empty spot. There are a few tables in the courtyard so you can eat outdoor if the weather permits. All in all we recommend Rab Ráby for those who visit Szenrendre but don't forget to make reservation.

We spent the day in Szentendre and were ready for a late lunch when we came upon the Labyrinth Restaurant/National Wine Museum. It was one of the places recommended to us so we thought we'd give it a try. The host seated us in the cozy Cup Hall on the ground floor. It is decorated in a country style with an entertaining mural on one wall. The headwaiter was very professional with a dry sense of humor. He was helpful and patient with four non-Hungarian speaking visitors and added a lot to the environment of the restaurant. We asked for a bottle of the house red wine and weren't disappointed. I had the Hungarian Veal Stew with Gnocchi while others had the Goulach Soup and the Grilled Goat Cheese with Baked Vegetables. Everyone was quite pleased with their meal and thought we made the right decision in picking this restaurant. The cost of the meal was reasonable. Should we ever make it back to Szentendre, the Labyrinth Restaurant will be where we stop to eat.

Hungarian and Belgian Craftsman's Brasserie, you can choose from over 100 kinds of beer, a selection of specialty short drinks from all over the world. We work whith kitchens, ranging from classic crossbreeds to handmade burgers to barbecue tables.
We decided to eat here after reading good reviews on TripAdvisor. This place did not fail us. Attentive, joyful, welcoming staff looking like they own the place. I guess they are indeed owners. The burger was good, especially for those who like burgers. Amazing choice of beers in bottles, the draft Hungarian Imperial was of great taste and quality! Home made lemonade prepared in our presence was very good and not sweet!

We had a nice lunch sitting outside on their terrace overlooking the river. The chicken came with broccoli (some much needed greenery!) and pesto balls. All very tasty! The meal was a bit pricier than other places we had been to but understandable give how touristy Szentendre is.

Saint André Bistro is a family business run by my beloved husband, Romain and myself, Szilvia. He is French, Iâm Hungarian. He is the chef, Iâm the manager :) We try to do our best, everything we learned in Seville, Bordeaux, Paris, Budapest will be seen
The atmosphere is very calm, sitting next to the river is already charging. Having a hot wine while I was wondering what to eat was also a great choice. The food tastes and looks always amazing so I would offer this place to try it out with friends, family, lovers. The waiter is very flexible and kind, ready to help. :)I ate here several times, and I had very delicious food all the time.I cannot wait to have my lunch on the next week here agaaain. *.*Dear Marietta F,Thank you very much for your feedback. Not on the high street, but a brilliant little gem of a place serving a range of food styles including traditional Hungarian. A warm welcome, very good service and really great food. We wnet twice, the second time because the picky teen wanted to have his birthday dinner there, even through we had to travel an hour from the center of Budapest. I had the wild boar stew both times - excellent - and others had steak (pronounced the best ever) and the goulash soup ("amazing"). Definitely worth bypassing the tourist traps.Dear Quadrantus,Thank you, we appreciate all feedback and try to learn from it. We truly hope that you'll return and enjoy the same experience that keeps bringing back guests for more than 40 years to Aranysárkány.Attila Máhr Jr.
