ou will find the French way of life, with its ease and cosyness only at very special places. One of them is our restaurant âJeanâ in Eltville am Rhein. The Frankenbach family always had an affinity for France and the French lifestyle. The French short for
Excellent French cuisine with a German twist (by Johannes or âJeanââ) and excellent and friendly service. We opted for the Gourmet menu and accompanying wines. Every dish was excellent and the (very well priced) wines matched the dishes. Especially noteworthy were the (sea) fish dishes, which can be sometime an issue in the Hessen region. Also the âfoie grasâ was a highlight, it was perfectly cooked and served with a 2003 Spatlase. We love food and are continuously searching for new places to eat, and restaurant âJeanâ is definitely one of the best places in Hessen. There are many Michelin star restaurants in Hessen, but they come at a cost. If you want high quality at affordable prices, âJeanâ is the place to be.

We usually visit during the autumn / spring when wine soup is available, this time the soup was different but equally delicious. I ordered the mushroom dumplings which were served with a fresh and tasty salad - very filling. My husband ordered a schnitzel (never one for trying something new) which he enjoyed immeasurably. The views of the Rhine, itâs river traffic, the vines and the castle make it a very special restaurant, one that we will return to again and again. On a more mundane subject: the newly refurbished toilets are wonderful too.

This restaurant is a gem I this small town of Walluf. My husband and I shared a salad which had a balsamic creamy dressing, perfect for two. Our entree was Cornish chicken with orange marmalade sauce, potatoes and a vegetable. We shared dessert which was a very light apple pie, mostly apples very little but flaky crust served with vanilla ice cream. We had wine which was Pinot Noir and expresso. This restaurant is not to be missed.

We parked our car to the parking lot and went hiking to the forest and vineyards. We circled back, hungry and thirsty, and of course this restaurant was our choice. To our delight it offered many Bayern delicacies! We dined outside, but the indoors decor looked amazing. The mixed salad with turkey I had was probably the best salad I have ever had. The place was quite crowded since it was holiday, so the staff was quite distant. All in all, a place I would definitely visit again!

After visiting a nearby monastery we decided to have a dinner on a main square of the town right across from the church. The experience was wonderful as it ticked all the boxes: food, atmosphere and service. It wasn't an extensive menu, but the choices were carefully selected to please even the pickiest client. The choice ranges from traditional schnitzel to steak and Italian dishes. Since I consider myself a blood sausage aficionado I couldn't resist ordering Blutwurst dish and it was delicious. Crunchy on the outside and creamy inside. It was served with mashed potatoes and apple chutney. The atmosphere on Friday night was great. Locals enjoying family time. We were lucky that we came some time around 17:30, because at 18:00 no table was available on the patio right outside the restaurant. The evening was setting, church bells were ringing, farmers were cruising by on small tractors. Idyllic. The waitress serving us was lovely and spoke perfect English. I only wish that there was an English menu so we didn't have to interrogate our waitress. I would definitely recommend anyone who is in the area to visit this lovely restaurant.

Excellent authentic German (Deutsch) food in a fantastic space. It must have been a very rich house a long time ago. Chandeliers, art work and other ambience really adds to the eating experience. Our five dishes of food were fantastic and service was prompt and personable. In fact, one of the owners visits the tables to answer questions in Deutsch or English. We will be back! Our friends recommended the place and expectations were high, but they delivered.

Fine wines, regional Rheingau cuisine with game and fish.
Super nice terrace outside with outstanding friendly service from the typically dressed waitresses. Given it was Easter, menu suggestions were fish, which was greatly cooked. Kids menu is available. Unfortunately I was driving so could not taste the wine but my wife said it was delicious.

We've visited this establishment a few times now and enjoy the occasion - be it summer or winter. Well cooked and prepared traditional food on offer (generous portions), along with attentive and friendly staff - all at reasonable prices too. We'll be back.
