This restaurant is part of Gasthof Kohlmayr, at the main square of Gmünd, the "Hauptplatz". The advantages of this restaurant are the continuous service from the kitchen (no stoppage between lunch time and dinner time) and the outside tables, where a splendid sit-down can be had, watching Gmünd street life. This continuous service enabled us to have an early dinner (can also be called a late lunch). We had the advantage of glorious late afternoon weather. Cold beer and an excellent Cordon Bleu schnitzel made the sit-down perfect. Service of the staff was polite and efficient. To be recommended.

A quirky delight, the old castle has a suave style that is fascinating, Ula's Spätzle are always good, I enjoy taking guests there to show it off!

That restaurant was a great surprise- we were just looking for a local place to eat and ended up having the best pizzas we ever had in Austria. Pizzas are prepared in a woodoven in front of your eyes- they came perfectly crispy and were made of fresh ingredients, which we appreciate a lot. We also had a starter, which tasted well. The menu wasn´t huge but it was fair enough for a small place. Restaurant is located ca 2 kilometers from the local town Gmund. It´s exactly on the way towards tourist attraction Kolnbreinsperre and almost beside the Donkey park, that´s how we found it. The atmosphere looks like traditional local pub with some modern features like a wine-corner. I am not a wine-specialist, but their selection looked nice as well. It´s also possible to sit outdoors in front of the restaurant, but the weather was too hot for that.Enjoyed it a lot and would return anytime.

We have been many times in this restaurant. Contrasting the rustical and minimally decorated restaurant the flamboyant dishes make every dinner here to be a truly pleasant culinary experience. The wine list, with a very selective high-class Austrian choice, is always accompanied by the qualified advice of Maria Steffner - along with Josef Steffner - the souls behind this amazing restaurant. This restaurant is just perfect. We stayed at the hotel for our skiing holidays and had payed for a half board. The breakfasts was very good. The dinners were absolutely gorgeous! For such a small town I was completely speechless of the high level of culinary art! The style of food arrangement, the taste, everything was really great. But above al, the deserts was the best I've ever had! Once you try it, you'll think you died and came to heaven! :) I definitely recommend to go there! The accommodation is great, the staff is nice and friendly... and if not for accommodation, go there for a great dinner!

We had dinner in the garden, nice and peaceful. We got excellent service. We could pick our own salad plate from a good buffet. We ordered "Saibling-filet". The fish was very tasty, also potatoes and vegetables were very good and tasty. Everything to a very reasonable price. Recommended!

We were initially disappointed because we thought wirsthaus meant sausage house and we were looking forward to some hearty Austrian sausages!! It means inn or pub in English, easily confused with wurst which is German for sausage! Anyway, I had pike-perch fish, and husband had schnitzel. Children were happy with their meals. Atmosphere was lively.

Recommended by an employee at Landal Katschberg, this restaurant did not disappoint. Even though we don't speak or read German the staff was very helpful translating the menu. It was neat trying local dishes and they were delicious you won't go away hungry. The decor is whimsical, make sure to wander around inside an check it all out. The views of the surrounding mountains complete the meal.
