I love the Gasthaus Hochmuth. Getting there is amazing as the cable car whisks you up to the top of the mountain in minutes. The view is simply jaw dropping! It was a beautiful sunny day and sitting on the terrace 1000m above Merano is a memory I will not forget. But it is a restaurant and the food is very good. What a place to linger and enjoy the Italian 'La Dolce Vita,' even though everybody speaks German first!Sausage lunch was excellent and filling...perfect before a hike to Leiter Alm.

Auf der Staffelalm sind wir immer vorbei "geschrammt" ohne zu ahnen was uns in der Zeit entgangen ist. Traumhaft, einfach traumhaft!!!!

The restaurant is situated on top of a mountain. The view in front is marvelous. The interior is very nice too. The restaurant serves local cuisine. I have been there several times and have never been disappointed. The service is very friendly and efficient too. I am quite often in this region. Beside the luferkeller in riffian this is my favorite place around Meran.

Very nice and peacefull place. Austrian food specialiced on vegetarian winter-soups for example carrott-ginger soup but also serving the clasics like Wiener Schnitzel and Käsespätzle. Hidden from the crowded slopes at the rotmoos-valley.
We had lunch here. Turned up at the sign on the piste, called the number and within a few minutes a friendly chap on a skidoo appeared and pulled us to the hut - an exciting, fun ride. Those not so happy with being towed can sit on. The location and views are amazing and different to the norm. Food was very good and all reasonably priced. The ski/walk back wasn't as bad as feared. We really enjoyed the whole experience.

We stopped off twice here during a day of skiing in Hochgurgl. The restaurant is large with seating inside outside and upstairs. The views are simply spectacular. It is also a motorcycle museum.Portions are generous and the service was excellent.
Where to eat Austrian food in Moso in Passiria: The Best Restaurants and Bars

This year we were pressed for time when we passed the San Leonardo Restaurant 'Sandwirt', but had the pleasure of eating here five years ago. We had a lunch which was regional in flavour, presented by smiling staff. We chose to sit on the terrace in front of the house in which the regional hero Andreas Hofer, the 'Sandwirt' (innkeeper) was born in 1767. He became a freedom fighter against Napoleon, for his home land South Tyrol, then part of Austria. Inside the house and the adjoining museum his memory is kept alive by many exhibits dating to his time. The dishes we had chosen were like home cooking unmistakably also indebted to Austrian cuisine and very tasty. I loved my choice of 'Pflaumenknödel' a kind of cooked dessert-like main dish, dumplings filled with plums. If you like regional and Austrian as well as Italian food, in casual setting at an historical place, visit the 'Sandwirt' restaurant in San Leonardo, a bilingual place in the north of Italy
