Ate here twice on the summer terrace they have by the lake (July to August). You need to book because it is very popular and rightly so. Brilliant management turns the tables around quickly and although you are by the road all focus is on the lake and food. There are lovely pollarded trees providing shelter from a very hot sun. Locals mix easily with tourists as the lake ferries glide close by.The food is widely varied and 4* meaning very good. This is not refined dining but you are paying reasonable prices for both food and drink hence the popularity. Everything comes from the kitchen of the hotel across the road apart from barbecued items of which there are many. Good lamb chops first time. The team are terrific and you do not notice the travel time.Go and enjoy, but do book or be good at charming the very efficient lady who keeps the whole place in such good order.

The restaurant has just been reopened, we were initiallysecptical to try it out a few days after the reopening. In short we were not disappointed. Two young ambituous guys took it over. One is a great chef, who is creative ( just try his soup with local crawfish from the fresh adjacent water lake, ) but keeps his Prices in the affordable range. The Chef has his eyes everywhere, a true host.

Restaurant is part of the Hotel Friedheim which is listed in your hotel listings, but I'd like to write a reiew about their restaurant.
We've eaten here several times before and this year we went back twice. The food is consistently good. The location and setting are beautiful, sitting outside, even on a hot evening, was cool and pleasant, overlooking the lake below.Be sure to reserve, especially on weekends. The staff are friendly and professional and the dishes are excellent. One criticism: even on a bill of over 300 Swiss francs - about $315 (US) - they added 3 francs for water: ordinary TAP water(!) without even a cube of ice. (Yes, we ordered a bottle of wine too.)Aren't they ashamed of that pettiness?

A very positive experience. Lovely terrace but our one cool evening by the lake. Discrete blankets for ladies no problem. Apart from a family where the parents seemed not to know how to ask/tell their children not shout it was lovely. They left after 25 minutes and a nice amuse bouche.Great perch from the lake, the best I had. Excellent choices of wines quite a few by the glass. Very professional service that asked when we wanted next courses to arrive. You will enjoy this place. Classy food, good staff and the lakeside - a powerful combination!

We were there on a Sunday afternoon after an excursion on the Mount Rigi. It was very hot and we enjoyed the ice cream in the garden. I have been at the restaurant a couple of years ago, when I could also enjoy the kitchen.

We had booked this small restaurant for enjoying the sunset while having fondue. We were not disappointed. The view was fantastic, the fondue very good. To add to the experience, the locals started playing the accordion challenging each other with different tunes. Nice to be far away from the tourist crowd!

We really liked this restaurant situated in the centre of pretty Kussnacht am Rigi. We had three really outstanding meals here at Christmas and Easter. Great Foie Gras, great quality steak tartar and fine veal cordon bleu. The only complaint was that the kitchen was a bit slow. Now, suddenly the menu has changed and what is left is what tasted like frozen fish, half portion of microwaved cordon bleu and warmed up chips. Did the chef have a night off or has he gone?So disappointing not to be able to enjoy this place again because the staff are really nice and the rooms very attractive old Swiss with lovely wood ceiling.

In the Swiss-Chalet restaurant swiss cuisine with its finesse and complemented with popularities from around the world. Dishes are prepared with selected products from the region and wisely combined with specialities from afar. On two floors and four diff
They offer a fantastic brunch with a good selection of cheeses, cold cuts, fruit, yoghurt, cereal, eggs and more. And of course: free flowing champagne. The meat offered for the lunch bit was very tasty. The atmosphere is lovely. Staff is hit and miss - one elderly lady was rather rude. Not sure why they have incresed the price for brunch compared to last year, the offer looks the same to me.Dear SkdotaveThanks for this wunderful review! Sorry for the experience with our staff. We increased the price for the brunch, because we included mineral water for all the people.Best regardsJeannine & Karel NöllySwiss-Chalet Merlischachen

This is a good restaurant. They are keen to please. The menu has a good range of steak as well as fish choices and veal. If you order steak, you have a choice of sauces to add to the flavour. Garlic and Cafe de Paris are excellent. Jacket potato or chips are also included. The service is a bit slow. On a Saturday night we were kept waiting an hour for the main course but at least it was freshly cooked for you. House wine, a Pinot noir was OK, nothing more. For deserts, there are a huge range of ice creams. Apple sorbet with calvados was excellent. Be careful if you ask for tap water. They served us still water and charged CHF 5 francs a litre without any warning, even if you order a bottle of wine. The Swiss people think it's acceptable as they have to wash the glasses!!

It is not eays to run successfully a vegan restaurant since most of the people are meat eaters and are not willing to test another experience and questioning sometimes their eating practice. Therefore, the Gersag offers at lunch time also ecological meet food. But in the evenings the restaurant is fully dedicated to non animal products. I was very positively surprised by the food. The food is not only a good, but also presented in a nicely manner. I ate the beetroot garpacio and the buckwheat minced "veg meat" dish. Boht were delicious and hardly to beat. There is also a variety of wines (ecological or even vegan). The Gersag building is not very cosy, but they decorated the restaurant well. I hope and i wish success for this highly ambitious team of this restaurant. And defintively, i will go there again.
