Reviews on Central European food in Kazan, Republic of Tatarstan, Russia. On the banks of the Volga River, Kazan sits austerely, its cityscape a visual confection of architecture that somehow manages to be both playful and severe. No matter your spiritual inclination, you simply must visit the Temple of All Religions, a Technicolor cultural center built by artist Ildar Khanov. Though still a work in progress, the "temple" is a feast for the eyes—and the spirit.

Cafe ÐÐ»Ð¸Ð½Ð½Ð°Ñ ÐаÑлениÑа is an awesome place to stop and enjoy some blinis after strolling along the УлиÑа ÐаÑмана. The blinis are delicious and they have a large variety of fillings. They also offer small pre-made salads on the side and for a dessert you can enjoy a piece of traditional Tatar pie. Prices are extremely good, 1 large blini is around 100RUB. I warmly recommend giving them a try.

We visited Chak-Chak twice for lunch whilst staying in Kazan. It is a clean and cheery cafeteria operation. One grabs a tray, and makes ones way along the counters, selecting items as one goes. There are some english translations on the labels. The food is best described as 'comfort home cooking'. It is not fancy or presented with any flair. Your hot meal wil be heated in the microwave. But the serves are generous and the taste is satisfying. We enjoyed the soups (cream of mushroom and a sour beef soup), and one of the hot dishes on offer, labelled 'Chicken curry', tasted remarkably like Indonesian opar ayam! The sweets also are good, if you can stuff anthing else in after main meal. The price for all this food is vary reasonable.

In December 2007, the city of Kazan, Moscow restaurateurs who own favorite gourmet capital "of Uzbekistan" and "White Sun of the Desert", was opened restaurant "Pashmir." It is located in the historic city on the shore of the lake. Wild boar, next to the
In town for the Brazil quarter final WorldCup match, my friends ,(who also flew to town for the game) picked this restaurant as the best option in town to eat Tatar food.Although we walked in without reservations, we managed to get a table after some nice begging. The ambiance is great, nicely decorated et all.The food is good, not excellent, just good enough. As starters we shared hummus (definitely had better elsewhere) and salad. For main, I got a grilled seabass which was good but the meal did not feel Tatar at all as nothing we had was different from the usual Mediterranean type of food. Maybe we did not order the right stuff. They were busy and the service was very slow. But when we complained about the delay, they were very apologetic and gave us complimentary vodka shots - which was very nice.Staff's English was limited so they were not able to explain questions on the menu. Still a very nice evening out in Kazan.

Food was very good and the prices were really low compared to Moscow and good restaurants in Italy! With my friends we ate a great Pizza Margherita for 300 roubles and spent an amazing evening there. As a tourist without Russian spoken, It is not really easy to find a rest with local food. When walking along the famous walking street, I found lots of people went to this Rest. Then I decided to follow them. It was just like buffet, quite easy for me to see what I wanted to try. Lots of choices, meatballs meat cake salads soups kinds of local food (I do not the name). Finally I got salad x 1, meat cake X1, panned potatoes X1, local food (ban?) X1, yogurt x1, cheesecake x1, hot lemon tea X1, you can't believe how much I had paid for them, only 138rub! Less than 2 euro! And the food was somehow delicious. For sure, the surrounding was a bit crowded and noisy, and long queue when eating time. But you can't ask more with such cheap price and reasonable quality local food. I do recommend it!

Family Cafe Skazka - is a national and top-level European cuisine since 1970! It is appetizing pastries, tasty desserts, national and European cuisines, home-made lemonades and specialty ice cream of own preparation. This production of fantastic cakes to
Youâd think that having exact schedule of matches a good restaurant woukd be ready, well, unfortunately this one is not. Came here for breakfast st 8:30 on the match day. The places was full, waiters running around like headless chicken, forgetting orders, mixing things up, not able to communicate with the kitchen. At 10 we still did not have 60% of what we orderdd and the shift of waiters has changed. We had to chase the new shift to get what we ordered. By 11 we finally left. Food quality was OK - local pastry very good, fried eggs - nothing special, eggs benedict turned out to be almost a hardboiled egg on a couple of dry panckakes. Overall rather dissapointing
