A small restaurant with a straightforward menu focused on steak as the main attraction - with a number of different preparations on offer . The Pfeffersteak was nice, a good sized filet served with a peppercorn cream sauce and crispy rosti with speck. The sauce and rosti were good, the steak had good flavor but was a touch undercooked vs. the medium rare I was aiming for. The rumpsteak was also good , with a bbq sauce and roasted potatoes, good flavors and well cooked. There are other dishes if you don't wish for steak (fish, schnitzel, etc). There are a few wines by the glass and a small range of other drinks. Service is very friendly. As it is a small place, come early or reserve in advance.

We had dinner at Braunhoferâs following a friendâs suggestion. We tried different types of meet (deer, mixed grill, chicken) and their carrotsâ soup, everything was really delicious. First choice Austrian ingredients, traditionally cooked and served with a smile. Make sure to reserve a table before going.
Buffet breakfast, varied, evening meal consist of starter, soup, main meal and dessert. The main meal one has a choice of three menus. Each night a vegetarian meal is included.

We were a group of tourists with one local German speaker. The waiters seemed somewhat polite but did not expect a German speaker amongst us who understood their derogatory remarks. Basically we should bring our money then go home. Schladming is full of restaurants, you don't need to come here to be disrespected by rude, arrogant young waiters who think no one speaks their language.

Family owned restaurant with first class food and service. It is recommended to visit in the Schladming area (just 10 minutes by car from Planai bergbahnen).

Overall the experience in this restaurant was only average - and well short of expectation. We came for dinner with a party of eight and were hoping for a memorable culinary experience. And the looks of the dishes were very good & promising - Everything looked well and cautiously prepared, with attention to detail. The taste, however, could not keep up:The âBeef Rosini with foie gras from Irish beef with truffled mashed potatoesâ was good, but not impressive. The same applied to some of the other mains. For desert, the âChocolate brownie with pecans and pistachio iceâ was a small disappointment. What did live up to the promise was the âBeef Tartar & the Irish natural beef fillet with quail egg Styrian pumpkin seed oil creamâ as starter. What was not meeting expectations at all was the service - there was clearly a shortage in service personnel and those that were there were not (or did not have the time to be) attentive. The food did not arrive at the same time for all of us Used glasses and side plates would not be cleared - even after we kindly asked them to be cleared to have a little more space. The wine list looks highly promising - However, when we ordered a specific bottle from a very good year, it first took about 15 minutes before it arrived - and was then from a different year (which was significantly worse in the area of origin). All in all our visit did not turn out to be the memorable culinary experience we had hoped for, but an âokâ and average food experience with - given the ambition and the price levels of this restaurant - insufficient service.

Most traditional Austrian restaurants have a very similar menu based around meat (don't go here if you are vegetarian) and the Kirchenwirt is no exception although there are a couple of interesting variations and particularly a meat based dish for two and the claim to have the largest Schnitzel in "Ennstal" (however that particular district is defined).Meals were all freshly cooked and came well presented. Service was efficient and traditionally Austrian and at â¬55 for dinner for three (including drinks) very reasonably priced.Overall a good experience, we would come back.

THE FOOD: recommendable. Even me as a local I loved it! Had the "Tischlerei soup" which is a mix of many Austrian soups - very good. As a main I can recommend the Bull ("Schulterscherzel") - it was a very soft meat (cooked for 48hrs). As a desert we had the flower pot which reminded me of Pana Cotta. THE SERVICE: very friendly and attentive. Waitresses serve in the typical Austrian dress ("Dirndl").THE VENUE: very pretty. They managed to incorporate modern interior design into the Austrian wooden style.
