We walked past this restaurant and decided to try it because it looked clean and modern and it offered what appeared to be some interesting local dishes. We sat down and I ordered the turbot, and my wife ordered the sole. I thought that it was a little unusual for a restaurant to have two varieties of fish on its menu that are so very similar but I explained it to myself on the basis that the sauces (as described on the menu) appeared to be very different. We were given a small tasting dish which was very nice. Everything was looking good. And then the mains arrived. Honestly, when the server put the dishes down in front of me, I was impressed. A real effort had obviously been made to arrange each dish. But the fish on my plate was a fillet of fish (about 15mm thick) and covered in its skin. It did not look like turbot at all. I didn't complain because the dish looked so good. On my wife's plate was a triangular piece of fish, obviously a cut from around the tail of a fish, again, covered in skin. It looked nothing like sole. It looked like a cut from cod/cabiott or some other scaly fish with that same shape. We commenced eating. My fish was bland, the swirls of dressing on the plate were tasteless and added nothing to the taste. The overriding taste was a strange fishy taste with a lot of salt over the top. There was no butter or lemon or sauce of any type, it wasn't pan-cooked or braised (or at least braised correctly). It was pretty awful. Dry, funny smell. My wife did not eat her fillet. She said it wasn't sole. I looked at it and I agreed. Then I tasted it. It tasted the same as mine, but it was bad, going off. It was old. That was the same taste in my fish, but more strong in the smaller thinner tail section.I recognised it as being old-fish when I tasted her fish. I think that it was cod too. I think that the chef palmed off 2 cuts from one Fish that was going out of date. One of the worse, most dishonest meals I have ever had. I felt sick all afternoon. To be avoided at all costs.Dear Lough222,Thank you very much for taking part of your valuable time to share your recent experience with us.First of all, I would like to extend my apologies for not having met your expectations. At the same time, I would like to review some details following your comments. I do not know if you made any comments directly during your stay regarding the fish however, I would have liked to correct this immediately by adding another dish in its place at no cost to you. We would also like to clarify that in our restaurant Brasic, the protagonist of the kitchen is our wood oven, which forces us to cook some of the fish such as sole and turbot (not cod) along with its skin, to reach its optimum cooking. Possibly the confusion was due to bring a sauce "Pil Pil" that accompanies it, made from the gelatin of cod that is emulsified with garlic and olive oil. We regret that your overall experience with us has not met your expectations and we take note of your comments to improve the level of satisfaction of our customers.Best regards,Brasic Team

The Informal is a bar with no pretensions that deserves a good opinion. Why? Lets see...First: Despite is located in the edge of the main street of Empuriabrava, this bar offers a great terrace where, specially by night, is a nice place to chill, dinner...If you prefer to stay inside, it is fine.More, the food is correct and very affordable. Jamón serrano, pan con tomate, tasty cheeses, squid etc and also sandwiches. The staff is correct and in the rush hour they do their best...I think that is well balanced meal and price.

We waited half an hour to be seated but it is normal at this of the year as it is a touristic area. Better book in advance. We ordered Fideuá with clams & cuttlefish, mussels in curry sauce with thyme, sirloin steak and some typical desserts.Everything was delicious and very well presented. We noticed that the fideuá only had 3 clams and informed our waiter about it. Harrison dealt with the issue marvelously well informing the cook and very generously appeared with a dish full of garlic seasoned clams (house specialty entree), furthermore he invited us to a glass of cava (Catalan champagne) making our stay a full unforgettable delight. Will return without any doubtThank you Harrison

We had a lovely evening here, we were with 8 persons and a nice round table was ready for us. We asked for several formulas for the menu, none of them was a problem also for the kids they made an adjustment. Very friendly staff. I had the mushrooms cream and the monkfish Paella both were very tastefull and rich on taste! If you are in the neighborhood, don't hesitate and make a reservation!

We have visited this local restaurant many times over the years, we normally go in a group of at least sixteen of us, booking is advised as this is a hotspot for all the locals, by one o'clock it is normally jammed packed full, they have an air conned indoor area where the local workman always seem to sit and an outside area, now with a roof with grape vines covering the ceiling, very rural Spanish.Don't expect à La Carte here its Catalan all the way, now with one or two eastern European waitresses its easier to work out the menu as the owner and most of the staff do not speak English but with a bit of broken Spanish between us we always managed and they appreciate you trying. The menu of the day is eleven Euros which includes a five course meal and a litre of wine between two, the dishes are basic and varied, if you are fussy eaters this is not for you, its typical Catalan food, but extremely good, their garlic chick peas "garbanzo`s" are second to none, coffee at the end inc brandy if you want it.Yes 11 Euros per head, a wonderful wonderful Catalan experience.

We stopped at this restaurant in our Costa brava tour since we were staying at a hotel near by. We got there quite late even for Spanish dinner time and we were served well. Service was good and food was good. Wine sold by the liter and overall a nice ambiance. It took some time to get our meal but it could be understood as peak time had already been dealt with. Thanks for your visit, we always try to give good service to the end. we hope you return to visit us with more time and tranquility!

We have been eating here regularly since it opened and have never been disappointed. The steak Tatar is excellent, the croquettes, the artichokes, the spring veg from the vegetable garden...the pork,..in fact everything is delicious. It takes All will power to resist the puddings, luckily I have none. It is in a beautiful setting off the beaten track but worth the drive.

We are fairly regular users of this restaurant which is very attractive, the service is excellent as is the wine but last nights 4 fish dishes had to be sent back as they were all undercooked and the childrenâs chicken dish was raw in the middle. Apparently the chef is new, letâs hope he learns to cook soon as this is one of the nicest restaurants in the areaThank you for your review, your important opinion will help us to improve.I can assure you that our chef is very well known for his creations in the local catering sector and for sure one of the best chefs on the whole Costa Brava.Thinking about your past experiences, as our regular and satisfied client, I really hope you will give us another chance and maybe reconsider your review in your next visit. Thanks again and kind regards

La Taverna is a gastronomic corner where you can enjoy sharing and eating the way you like most at the time for its great variety of tapas, toast, broken eggs, salads, grilled meats, fish, specialties and daily suggestions. We also have a menu of careful
We stumbled across this place on our first night in town & thought âletâs try itâ Good decision! The Cesar salad was delicious, the eggs & chorizo were declared delicious & the kids menu was huge & excellent. Good vegan options too, which I wasnât expecting. Very patient staff who coped with & assisted our terrible Spanish (we are German speakers as a foreign language not Spanish!) Great vibe, lovely to see kids welcomed much later than would be possible in the UK & delicious fresh food. And yummy puddings! Thank you very much Melanie for your kind comment and happy that you liked our food and treatment, it's fantastic! See you soon! ;-)
