Things to do in Punta Gorda
It is not easy to get here. My guess is that you need to make special arrangements We came by boat from Payne's Creek as part of a group of 12 to visit the local school, and this beach-side shack opened up for us. As I recall we had snapper, beans and rice, cole slaw and some delicious fudge that I believe was made from coconuts. The food was some of the the best I had on my visit, and the open air atmosphere was wonderful.

The Mangrove has been serving fine international cuisine in the Toledo District for over 20 years. It' a small local family run establishment owned and operated by Iconie; who is both your cook and a fine, friendly and fun host. The dining area is located
My boyfriend Jim and I had dinner at Mangrove. The owners were fantastic people and made us feel comfortable. The food was great. I had the snapper and Jim had the snook fish. Everything seasoned to taste and fantastic. The town is cute and the people friendly and helpful. This restaurant is a must if you come to PG. I highly recommend it.

Upstairs at the top of a large concrete building is Marian's restaurant. Our experience was exceptional - first, as with most small, family run businesses in Belize, make reservations in advance to ensure they are open and for them to prepare a freshly cooked meal! The food was delicious. Marian prepared fish curry, pork chops, vegetarian and a child-friendly meal to cater to all our needs. There is no dinner menu, so we enjoyed her creativity. You must try her special hot, habanero sauce and ask about her stew sweets, yum! Whether during the day or night, the breeze is wonderful and the sea views are just breathtaking! Marian, Hubert and their children are incredible hosts and by far why I will return many times again. Friendly, warm, welcoming and nothing short of incredibly nice people! If you are looking for a local experience, have an interest to learn of your hosts culture and their stories while growing up in the Toledo District, and want to feel like you are at your dinner table at home, this is the place to be.

Actually the restaurant was closed, as Joycelyn had friends for a little party coming in. but she accepted us for dinner, and four beers and two hours later we really got our dish (no menue, no choice) with breaded fishrolls, a large tortilla and beans, together with a spicy yellow ginger sauce. it was very tasty, and we enjoiyed the long waiting time.

Top quality seafood, vegetarian, and barbeque in Punta Gorda. Relax at the only restaurant and bar around that is completely over the sea. Fresh meals are cooked to order with sustainably caught seafood; fish are often caught by Asha (the owner/head chef)
Love Ashaâs! Seafood and veggies are fresh and tasty. Loved the Whole Snapper and the Cracked Conch. Super reasonably priced as well. Nice ocean breeze...and Belikin!!

We stopped by at Gomier's when waiting for our dumming lesson that was going to happen just around the corner. Gomier is an incredibly interesting person and we loved his smoothies. He told us that he has been thinking about quitting his business and retiring on his farm though, so you should go and check out his place while you still can. Unfortunately he was closed when we came back for a late lunch after our lesson, so we didn't get to try his food, but the smoothies alone would have been worth the trip. :)
