While driving home from Pickering Town Center looking for a typical burger joint, we saw a sign, $5.99 lunch. So a quick U-turn and found a spot out of the way to enjoy some delicious spicy smells. We both tried different dishes, mine was curried goat. You can watch your meal being made fresh. I was delightfully surprised to enlighten my taste buds. Now the location is not updated nor is it seen properly from the road. However, a small sign caught our eye and it is clean and the owners are extremely friendly. A must to try! We're glad we made the U-turn!

Vegan Plant based restaurant. We provided take out and catering options.
We have been hearing about this place for a while and decided to stop by. We could not decide what to order, so we ordered one of everything, and two specials. Literally everything was good! The flavours blended so nicely, and everything was fresh. The only downfall was that they were out of the oxtail, so we will have to go back earlier in the day next time. Definitely worth the trip, and honestly. I am big on customer service, and they have that!! I have n complaints other than the oxtail being finished by the time we finally made it there and the fact that the tables could not fit all of our food. But they move, so we pushed them together and made it work. Thank you Vegan Jerk!! Below are pictures of the meals that were still picture worthy by the time I went back to the table!!

Island Mix Restaurant and Lounge welcomes you to fun, food, drinks, music and events. Away from the Caribbean Islands, our relaxing environment will take you back to the distant islands of fun, cheer and delectable dishes. Island Mixâs lunch and dinner me
I was introduced to this restaurant by a girlfriend & dined here as a party of 4. The restaurant has a nice ambience & you can smell the aroma of the food before you're even seated. We had reservations on a Friday evening & it was quite busy when we arrived. Their menu is a mix of Caribbean & Chinese which makes a nice change. Our server was quite jovial albeit a little distracted at times but overall quite pleasant. The wait for our food & drinks was a little longer than I had expected but I took into consideration that this cultural restaurant has a laid-back atmosphere & attitude similar to being in the West Indies.Once the food arrived it was steaming hot & looked & tasted delicious. You can choice a set meal if you want which is accompanied by rice or you can just order a few items off the menu & share amongst a group &/or couple. I couldn't fault the food I ordered which was a tofu dish with rice & steamed broccoli cooked in garlic. The prices are also reasonable for the portion size & they have some nice dessert options.I would have no hesitation in dining here again & am planning to bring my family for a meal next time.

This was our first visit and our overall impression was good.I was looking for a sit-down lunch of good Jamaican food with a beer. Upon entering, I thought it was just take-out as the restaurant is divided into two sections and the small dining room was off to the left. Not obvious and I almost left because we wanted to sit down and eat-in. I also had to ask if the restaurant was licensed because that wasn't obvious either. Better signage would certainly help; one directing patrons to the dining room and I'm sure a brewery would be glad to provide a few discrete signs so patrons will know even before entering that they can get beer or wine etc.Once seated in the dining room we were greeted by a young server with a very sweet nature and we opted for the Irie jerk chicken wrap and the jerk pork. While waiting for our order we scoped out the room and would have to agree with others that it didn't look much like any Jamaican restaurant I've been in, here or in Jamaica. Very spare decor with a modern and clean feel and neutral colours. Linen napkins are always a nice tough. It was all good but we were expecting reggae music, black, green and gold colours somewhere in the room and something Jamaican decorating the walls. However, you can make the case that our expectations were stereotypical and Beryl's is deliberately trying to break out of that mould ⦠probably a good thing! However, why not put a piece of art on the wall in keeping with the design that would promote a Jamaican artist and just liven up the room a little? The bathrooms are large and clean and well appointed but be forewarned, the locking mechanism is not obvious. Both my partner and I walked in on someone using the facilities and it is not apparent that you have to hit a red button on the wall to lock the door. Again, better signage would help customers and avoid a lot of potential embarassment.Once the food arrived we were quite happy with our dishes. Both had very good portions for lunch and both had lots of that tradional Jamaican jerk flavour we were looking for. The Irie wrap was very good as was the jerk pork. The rice and beans accompanying the pork was also very good. I did find the pork a little on the dry side but that was offset somewhat by a tasty spicy gravy that came with it. A good cole slaw also came with the pork and good fries came with the wrap. Care was given to presentation which was very clean, again somewhat less casual than other similar places. To close, we would certainly return when that urge for Jamaican jerk comes over us and we may even try the takeout as well. Be prepared to forget those stale old Jamaican cliches and enjoy a very clean and tidy room with good service and good food.
