Parking was tight around this restaurant. The counter staff was vaguely interested in helping customers. But the food was incredible, especially for the price - definitely had an exotic central american, caribbean vibe. I've never tried goat and after ordering it here, I'm a fan. The jerk chicken was generous in portion size. I'm not usually a fan of spicey - however, the spices they used were exceptional when pared with the other items in the plate. I've been to Costa Rica and never had plantains cooked as nicely as here. This is a no frills, casual establishment. The food is generous in portion size, and extremely affordable for dining.

I ordered a combination of ox tail and dark meat jerk chicken with rice and plantains. The ox tail was superb. Wow! The dark meat jerk chicken was good; their jerk sauce/seasoning is stronger and superior than what I can find as a store bought-marinade. The plantains were good. The meal is a fairly large order so come hungry. I have been to Jamaica several times and I know Coconuts Caribbean Restaurant offers authentic Jamaican food. This was my first meal at Coconuts so I asked for and received help from the waitress. She was kind, helpful, and attentive. The décor is plain and simple. That is all right with me. It indicates they invest their money into food quality not décor. Without any hesitation, I strongly recommend the ox tail meal for lunch or dinner. Or you can have ox tail and jerk chicken combination meal. A lot of their meals are gluten-free and Coconuts marks that on their menu. They also offer four vegetarian meals. And they offer four large salad as well (with or without meat). Coconuts serves lunch and dinner starting at 11:00 a.m.; closed Mondays. As of June 22, 2018, their website says they open at 11:30 but that needs updating; they open at 11:00 a.m.Parking is free â either street or in the city garage across the street. The only thing I recommend that Coconuts change is this: turn down the volume of the music. The music is reggae, but it is not the gentle soft reggae music that I prefer. I found the more urban reggae music a bit distracting.

This Cuban style restaurant offers a nice variety of food options, including gluten free. I had the marinated cheese, and ceviche. Both were excellent. We had a difficult partyâ3 of us were on time for the reservation, 2 were over 40 minutes late. The server (J.J.?) did a great job adapting to changing circumstances. The atmosphere was comfortable, warm and welcoming.
