You might come for the food, you might come to dance, or you might come for the revolution. Any way you slice it, Rasta Mesa is the living, breathing, righteous soul of Garifuna culture in Livingston, Guatemala. Here you can do anything from cooking and e
Rasta Mesa is a restaurant, eco farm and Garifuna cultural centre that also offers cooking classes that double up as an incredibly insightful local history lesson and finish with a communal drumming session with dancing and drinks.I went to learn about the local cuisine and walked away in love with the place, a small group of us were taught about the Island and local history as well as how to make Bundiga from scratch using ingredients sourced entirely from their back yard - a Garinagu curry made from green bananas and coconut milk served with freshly caught fried fish and green banana fritters. The food was amazing and I walked away feeling like I learned a lot- really fun.

El Delfin Bistro is a new concept of restaurant for the caribean of Guatemala, with quiet atmosphere, music, professional service, two native chefs of the area and one international, That is wy we will make your visit to our restaurant a delaighfull experi
Our group of 19 visited Bistro el Delphin as part of a Rio Dulce tour. As the meal was included in the price, I can't speak of the costs. What I can say is that the Bistro is lovely. It sits on the second floor of the hotel Posada el Delphin and is a peninsula into the river. There are many, many large windows and the setting couldn't be better or more scenic. The Bistro itself is painted in cheery colors trimmed in white - very welcoming! The staff was extremely friendly and helpful and the restaurant was immaculately clean. Our meal (we had the choice of shrimp, fish, or chicken) was delivered promptly and both the chicken and shrimp were quite tasty. (I did not try the fish but it appeared that others enjoyed it!)

Restaurants in Livingston tend to be marginal and pricy. Gamboa Place is an oasis. The quality is high, portions generous, and prices reasonable for Livingston. They serve traditional Garifuna and Belizean cuisine, and strong coffee. Itâs up an alley off the beach, but the entrance is well marked. Once you reach the restaurant youâll find an open air patio, clean tables, and a fresh colorful friendly environment. And they have Marie Sharpâs hot sauce on every table. These folks are very much a part of the surrounding Garifuna community, so just ask anyone when you reach down to the sea. Itâs just north of the âdiscos.â Tell them youâre looking for Gamboa and youâll likely meet with a friendly greeting. They also seem to be well connected to local fishermen, so this would be a good place to try some fresh fish. Maybe some hudut.

Best on the water dining in the entire Rio Dulce. Panoramic views with wonderful food served quickly in an elegant ambiance. Mojitos and Pina Coladas, other drinks made from scratch. Belgian waffles, crepes, filet mignon, asian inspired salads, Cuban sand
Our experience at Tortugal was fantastic! Every meal was great, served in a timely manner and with a smile. I had read reviews that the food and service weren't great, but our experience could not have been more different. We enjoyed the traditional breakfast options offered, including unlimited coffee bar. Dinner was great, with the exception of one night when we had pizza (the special that night) that wasn't fantastic. The shrimp Tortugal dinner with mashed potatoes was by far my favorite evening meal. Great drinks with embellished garnishes. We enjoyed the different spaces to dine at the restaurant (bar, library table, waterside tables). The staff was fantastic for our entire stay, especially Leo and Herbert.

In my opinion, if Rosita's is not on the list for your culinary experience while in Rio Dulce, you are doing your party a disservice. Before and during my trip I asked who had the best "Tapado" in Rio Dulce. The unanimous answer was Rosita's! My family and I walked from Las Viñas Hotel in the evening and came to the restaurant after walking through the lit boardwalks in the bayou. Reminded me of some restaurants in Baton Rouge, LA and Savannah, GA. Now the food... The best Tapado I have had in Guatemala. The caldo and seafood were perfectly cooked. My family had shrimp and other seafood and enjoyed every bit of it. Go and Enjoy

This is little bit confusing, because they have a Tour Company and also restaurant and it seems that some people are writing about that restaurant and some about Tours(which include lunch here). We had a Rio Dulce River/AK-Tenamit/Livingston Tour and with our absolutely great guide Freddie it was just perfect! 7 hour boat tour through Jungle/Rain Forest, included several interesting stops, lots of information and OK lunch and all this for 55 usd/person! There ain't too much to do in Port of Santo Tomas de Castilla, so this is perfect way to spend your day

This four star review comes with an asterix. In this secluded little town you have to lower your expectations. Anywhere else the food would have only earned a three, at most. The setting is quite nice. You sit outside next to the dock with lots of palm trees around. The waitress was sweet and an excellent job.You could a lot worse.
