Thirteen of us who live locally and have known each other for a long time. Wonderful setting with views across the golf course to the sea, Saltspring Island and the coastal mountains. Mount Baker can be seen from the deck and the sunset is spectacular. We had wonderful service from Sarina and her coworkers who treated us above and beyond...! The menu was a mixture of burgers and salads, and some interesting main dishes with monthly specialities.The chowder was excellent. Wines add to the cost, of course but not to expensive and a reasonable selectoin of these and ales. Desserts , I was told were good. Although the kitchen closed around 8.00 pm we were not pushed to leave and sat with coffee and good conversation until close to 9.0 pm. Main course all seemed to be less than 20 dollars which seems to be excellent pricing for a great evening with friends.Thank you for the detailed review. This is my third visit to this restaurant, and I really enjoyed it. It is a small cozy place with a large sundeck for eating outside. The place is clean and the staff are friendly and very helpful. The food is excellent and quite tasty. My friend had the small halibut meal and I had the poutine daily special (meat loaf). Both were generous portions that filled us up. In a previous visit I had the works monster burger and was just able to finish it. I hope to try the barnyard burger on my next visit. You can eat there or do take out, and is wheel chair friendly, and family friendly.Thank you for the great review of the Village Chippery. The staff and I are very proud of the food we prepare and the service provided and very grateful to get this terrific review. Thanks again and looking forward to seeing you.

Been dining here for 30 years. Sadly food is mostly fried food now. No Beef, veal or the comfort food meals now. They said it was to streamline cooking. Draft Beer is almost flat and not that cold and they don't seem to care. Been this way for years now. I'd ask the owner to go down to The Bay Pub in Cow Bay and compare. Their moving towards a younger clientele that's not that fussy. To bad. I've been going there weekly for decades. No more. Hit the Bay pub, Cobblestone or pioneer house for much better food & drink..

Went in on opening weekend and food was delicious!! All the fixings for the burger (bear paw shaped, cooked JUST RIGHT!!) Fries crispy on the outside, soft on the inside, great with vinegar or ketchup. Will be returning all season long as now we have a place nearby!! Service great, local girl friendly. Lovely date day lunch! Will be back this summer, and will bring the family too.
