Hired bikes to cycle along Marine Drive. We started at The waterfront and cycled along oriental pde. Finally reached the restaurant at lunch time. It is situated in a sandy bay with beautiful views across the water. Had the chowder, Salad, coffees were good and the cake - citrus slice was nice (like a cross between a muesli bar and carrot cake) however feel the establishments resting laurels with poor customer service - I didnât get a spoon for my soup and had to ask for one. And we got the impression that the waitress was not keen to take our order from her lack of enthusiasm.

It's a bar with that old fashioned feel. Classic throw-back dishes prepared by a super talented kitchen team. Sink into a booth for a quick cocktail or stay for a while and have a full lunch and dinner service. Bask in the sun appreciating your favourite
The sliders we ordered would have to be the worst we have ever been presented with. there were three and two were basically inedible as they were mainly made up of fat and gristle. Very expensive buns and garnish was the best you could say about it. We also had some fries which were ok. The waitress was pleasant and advised that she would let the kitchen know but no one came to talk to us

A visit to Picnic Cafe was not on our morning agenda but we had time to squeeze in a coffee after a visit to the gardens and the start of a walking tour at the parliament house. I like to research my cafes but this one we went in with no knowledge, it was comforting to see the baristas with tattoos and urban style beards, a sign that we would get a good coffee! Ha ha, just a fun comment:)While we did not eat there I did see a delicious range of cakes and filled savoury rolls and savoury scones which looked rather tempting.

From the moment you step through our door, you will feel like you are in Italy. A unique combination of a Restaurant, Cafe and Retail shop, La Bella Italia in Petone, Wellington was born from director Antonio Cacace's passion to educate Kiwis about the be
I am Italian, this was our go to place in Welly. In the last couple of years it has gone downhill, the food claims to be Italian but the food is of sub standard and the service is slow, not great with children.Hi Chiara, You came on the 2nd of June to celebrate Italian National Day. La Bella Italia was full of children on that evening. We are renowned for being excellent with children. That night Lilian, one of our best waitresses, attended your table. We get so many compliments from customers regarding her manner with everyone, especially with children. You came in around 5.30pm and left at 7.15pm. We had 140 people booked plus walk in customers. In the last two years La Bella Italia has received a number of awards for the authenticity of the food and the experience we offer. When the staff who was on that night read your review, they were quite saddened as they remembered you fondly - how you greeted them at arrival and leaving. At the till you were asked if everything was okay and you did not say anything to the contrary. To finish: You are Italian, we are Italians too and we work hard everyday to offer a true Italian experience to everyone who walks through our door. We are very proud of the authenticity La Bella Italia is known for.

Went for breakfast while waiting for a departure flight from Wellington. What a great little place - I think we were lucky because there was no line-up when we arrived, but boy it got busy quickly! The food was great, perfect breakfast and a great view to accompany it.We were 2 couples, one with a small baby, and nothing was a problem.I totally recommend making the short trip to this great place. Thanks for the great review. Glad you enjoyed it and missed the crowds. See you next time. Thanks.

This place was totally full at just before midday with people steadily streaming in to seek a table. We arrived early and enjoyed their brunch menu. It wasnât until I went to the bathroom that I discovered a whole new area outside in a courtyard. If you had warm clothes on, this would be delightful at any time of the year. Great little brunch menu with some really interesting flavours, labeled vegan, vegetarian and nut free.

You cannot fault the wonderful customer service at Cafe Polo. Quick, helpful and very friendly. However, today our meals were a little disappointing. Coffee was the main highlight today.

Our daughter told us Prefab had the best Seafood Chowder ever! We tried it. - she was right- fantastic! Great consistency, plenty of seafood, with a potato cheese crust- delicious. The crusty chewy bread-roll, just how I like it! The bowl of chip, the way chips should be.To top it all off, served by the lovely Bridget. This lady is right in her element, if only all waitresses were as good as Bridget. Prefab was absolutely banging at lunchtime with 6 to 10 waiting all the time we were there.Highly recommend.

Food nicely presented and very cheerful service. Due to the confined space is noisy and a bit overwhelming when busy, however for many this would add to its charm. Interesting menu. Definitely a very popular cafe with people waiting to be seated, however efficiently managed.
