Me and my friend popped in to this cafe on Saturday for a coffee and a bowl of ice cream after a 19 mile walk. The food, drink and service was fantastic and its good value for money too.

Fish finger sandwiches bit disappointing no butter and just under a fiver.Nice atmosphere, clean and comfortable. Prices a little too high for me. Too nice for a cafe. Not quite a bistro.Would go again but not quite what clientele they are aiming for

The staff were very welcoming and friendly. The menu choice was great including all you would expect and some different ones too. I had smoked salmon, scrambled eggs, mushrooms, roasted asparagus and avocado which was very nicely cooked and tasted great.I recommend a visit.

My friends came from North London, Stevenage and Royston and were all impressed. Good service, food cakes and drinks. They also do other meals. Would definitely visit again.

Traditional English cafe, severing freshly cooked all-day English breakfast. Our specialties include Andy's home-cooked gammon ham, lasagne and variety of pies. Family run establishment since 1995.
We don't go frequent, but when we do we are never disappointed. Menu has chanced a little. Prices up, which is understandable. The prices of a breakfast now includes a hot drink, which I think is very good. They now also have changed to table service. As always very clean and efficient. Dropped one star on this occasion as my eggs were over cooked.

Mudlarks is Hertford's charity cafe, provides training and paid work for adults with learning disabilities, enabling everyone to take a full and active role in our community. We are also Hertford's only vegetarian and vegan cafe, with gluten free options
Mudlarks is a local initiative that I believe started with an allotment run by, and for, folk with learning difficulties. The cafe sells good quality, largely vegetarian, food and is also run with the help of employees with learning difficulties so while you have a great cup of coffee or a healthy lunch you can also support the community of Hertford who are special.

We have drunk coffee many times at The Village Cafe but this time we were able to have a late breakfast. The welcome was as always warm and friendly, and although the speed of service wasn't lightning, we were still served in good time and with freshly cooked food. The poached eggs were done to perfection and the rest of the breakfast followed suit. The portions were large, more than enough to keep me going.

Visited this cafe for the first time today and chose it based on the reviews and I wasnât disappointed. We both had a sandwich, and they are absolutely huge. Very thickly cut fresh bread and lots of filling. We also both had a coffee and the bill came to £7.30. Excellent value.
