We stopped in for breakfast about 8:30 on a Wednesday morning and were seated right away. Our server got our drinks quickly and we took a little time to look over the menu. I enjoyed something really different - Italian Eggs Benedict. There were two poached eggs, prosciutto, and house made basil pesto on polenta cakes with a choice of toast or biscuit. My husband enjoyed the Hash Basket - hash browns topped with eggs over easy, choice of meat (he picked Andouille sausage), covered with cheese, diced tomatoes, and créme fraiche and choice of bread. We both took part of our meal home to eat later. Very good food and service.

We showed up here on a whim, in Birmingham for a wedding. When traveling we always scope out the local pastry shops. This place didn't disappoint. The owner and all the staff were great, Very welcoming, and attentive. The pastries were unique and very good. The brownies/cheesecake brownies were smooth, and not unbearably sweet. It was so good we brought back a host of friends the next day for breakfast/brunch. These menu items (waffle, blintzes, omelets) were even better.

The on-line ordering was not working tonight. Arrived at the restaurant and they could not find my order. Understand that mistakes can happen, but the recovery is how a restaurant is measured. This did not happen tonight.Just got a 'we do not have your order' from the cashier, who then agreed to take my order (again). The cashier was not polite or patient as I was trying to remember my original order. There was never any hint of acknowledgement that there was a mistake.When the order was brought out, items were missing. When I got home, the order was made incorrectly.Maybe this was a bad night for them, as the cashier mentioned that several on-line orders were missed tonight. They could have done better and showed that customer service is important to them. A bad night for Newks in Vestavia.
