Only others like me will understand the joy I had when I discovered Placeres. I was very lucky to have my Airbnb host to take me there as it is a little out of town, but i would not hesitate to recommend a taxi ride on your stay to stock up on the great variety of food they have for your stay in Ushuaia (and wherever you go afterwards). I bought 2 tortes (with pastry), a brownie, an apple muffin and 2 mini-croissants for 300 pesos (very cheap compared with Aus)! Dear Lisa, thank you very much for your words! We appreciate them very much! We can understand your joy to find a real gluten free place, because we share the suffering of travelling and trying to find something to eat! I have visited this place passing by, since the places at the window appeared nice. Disadvantage of this âniceâ seat was, that there was no attention from the super-slow staff - whether for getting the menu, to order or to pay. Food was disappointing: I had the tasteless Super Milanesa Quinquela and since it was not enough a Hambuergesa Completa (flat, hard, overcooked meat). The only taste here came from ketchup I have added.

Cafe Bar Banana is a decent all-around restaurant serving breakfast, lunch and dinner. Itâs also one of the few restaurants open on Sundays. My visit was for breakfast, where I had the Banana Special: scrambled eggs, toast, sweet croissants, coffee and orange juice. It was pretty decent, and I wasnât disappointed. We also sampled some empanadas, and they were also good. They also serve a really good ham and cheese toasted sandwich on very thin bread, but massive pieces. Breakfast for two people is about $15 US. The service is very, very slow, so be patient when dining here.

The atmosphere is very nice.The options in the menu are quite varied, there's lots to choose. We ate here more than once and we always loved the food; tasty and well served. The only bad thing is that the staff seems to be overloaded and they take too long for everything. The ice cream is absolutely delicious... you run the risk of ordering everything. We did start off with some cheese snadwiches, which were nice and warm, just perfect. The tiramisu ice cream is probably one of the best. The staff could be just a tad friendlier!
