Adjacent to the famous Piazza Unità dâItalia and Teatro Verdi, in the most prestigious area of the city, Caffè Tommaseo owes its name to Tomaso Marcato, who founded it in 1830. He came to Trieste as many people at that time for commercial reasons, and was
We were with a small group of adults visiting Trieste, and wanted to stop here for a caffe at the the famous caffe shoppe. I had the capuchin with cream and chocolate. It was delicious but maybe not as good as others but the environment was âover the topâ.

On our first trip into Trieste, walking from our hotel, we passed by Urbanis - a very popular place. Located in between the squares of Unità dâItalia and Piazza della Borsa, it must get a huge amount of potential customers passing by. This could lead to indifference but not in the case of Urbanis. It became a fairly regular haunt during our week in Trieste and quite astonished us with the ever changing ânibblesâ you received with your drinks. Not just nuts and crisps. Here you could get mini-pizzas one day, or sandwiches the next. On one day they even had a chef on âoutdoor dutyâ, serving complimentary hot pasta - now beat that.Drinks prices were slightly above average for Trieste, with the ubiquitous Aperol spritz coming in at â¬5, with âlesserâ cafes in Trieste coming in at â¬3.50 or more commonly â¬4. In fact the prices were about the same as the more upmarket competitor, just around the corner.Nevertheless, service was always prompt and polite, prices were well displayed and as a spot for âpeople-watchingâ - was hard to beat.

Busy place, smiling faces, good espresso, a wide choice of pastry and sandwiches. Nice place to stop for a break at all times of the day. And the people are friendly, kind and efficient. What else? Ah, the bill does not come as a surprise, fair and fine.

We are the meeting point of our experiences, the starting point of our ideas. The worldly and homemade melted in our modern retro.
We had a really nice lunch with excellent service. No english menu, but who needs that for ordering white wine, carbonara and ice-coffee. The coffee is the best iced latte I've had. They made is specially for since it was not on the menu.

Small place where you can spend your time, having a coffee, drinking beer or wine and tasting a good sandwich. From our menù.
We were treated very rudely at Tavernetta al Molo in Grignano (don't go there) and had to scramble to find a place to eat before the restaurants closed before dinner. We went on TripAdvisor and found this place, which was close by and had good reviews. It was closing at 2:30 and it was already close to 2, so we rushed over. Parking was a challenge (though we later discovered a municipal parking lot just a block away) so it was well after 2 by the time the six of us were all assembled. The server didn't seem thrilled to seat us so late in her shift, but saw the desperation on our faces and took pity on us. The decor is nothing special and we probably would have walked by the place if we hadn't been directed there, but the food was local, authentic and delicious. I had an octopus salad, which was tender and tasty. The pasta and charcuterie plate also looked delicious and everyone raved about their dishes. It was great value for money and the server quickly warmed up to us, making the overall experience a good one. Thank you for your review.Happy you found good our food and dishes.Thank you found time to dedicate us.Only one thing...it's not correct to start a review talking about another place(even if in a bad way)Anyway....Thank you so much!
