I don't really know how we've managed to live in Brighton for years and not know about Emmaus. It was only a recent news article about a social enterprise to skill ex-prisoners through re-fitting their new clothes shop that we heard about it. Then found it was one of those "in the know" places. Anyway, we had a great time mooching around the different shops on site and picked up a couple of items. We finished with a sandwich lunch and coffee. Good simple and substantial food, served professionally and with a friendly smile. Dogs are welcome throughout the site indoors and out, though only on the terrace of the cafe (not inside). So a fair weather venue for dog guardians if you are eating or drinking there with the pooch. What a great place!

Healthy nutritious food and guilt free cakes and bars. Vegan, vegetarian & several options for the whole family, couples & those eating out on their own.
As I said a ridiculous long wait.Ordered two salads. Nothing needed cooking. Given an order number. For some reason we were the last to be served as I think others complained. It was a late lunch already and the 45 minutes wait made me feel quite unwell and far too hungry to savour the food. The 'special tea' was nothing special. The salad was ok, but no way worth the wait. Paid extra for olive oil dressing. No carbs or protein with the salad, (£10) just seeds, had to order some bread to bulk it up.Thank you for taking the time to write this review for TripAdvisor. I do find it ridiculous though that you didn't give your feedback to me or a member of my team at the time, particularly as you said you had started to feel unwell. We might have been able to assist you in some way! Instead, you chose to create a new account, then write and submit your review to TripAdvisor. It is disappointing your first review is not more balanced and constructive.I must correct some inaccuracies in your review. Some of your statements are simply not true. As one of the owners, I was actually working on Saturday and remember your particular order. The longest wait on food orders on Saturday was 25 minutes at peak time during service. At no point did any customer wait longer than 25 minutes for food. I was monitoring this closely with the Chef. I can assure you that we did not receive any complaints from other customers during Saturday's service. In any professional catering establishment, food is always served in the order it was taken. The fact you had salads and not hot food does not, and should not, make a difference. It would be fundamentally wrong to prioritise your dishes over others. I take issue with your statement about our salads. Our range of salads have been designed by our chef, an eating psychology coach, to be nutritionally balanced and delicious. They contain an array of superfoods, hemp seeds, and yes carbohydrates. The quinoa and roast vegetable mix that came with your salad is indeed a complex carbohydrate. In fact, our menu offers customers the opportunity to also add either tuna, salmon, prawns, mackerel, chicken or egg to the salad base. I think most people would agree there is plenty of opportunity to add more carbohydrates to the dish if you had chosen to!!Finally, you mention 'special tea' not being that special. We do not offer special tea and never have done, but if you mean the range of Kombucha tea we are now supplying, this is a product that a lot of cafes and supermarkets are now selling. The health benefits of Kombucha are well documented so I do not feel I need to go in to this here.

Such a wonderful experience and absolutely scrumylitious food! The staff/manager are over and beyond warm and welcoming. I'm going to be a regular here now.Thank you for your superb review, we take our allergen management including cross contamination very seriously, so you will always be safe with us.I am blessed to be the person that swerved you and one of the owners. We are always pleased to see our customers so thank you for taking the time and trouble to use TA.
Fuel Coffee House was born out of our desire to create a destination in the South Downs for people who love great coffee, awesome baked goods and appreciate all things automotive. Think of us as a club house for everyone.
This new venture deserves every success. With good coffee and quality pastries, it provides a comfortable space to chat with friends (or strangers) about cars - ancient or modern, humble or exotic. There's even a view of the Downs across the yard. Not to be confused with the café round the back of the estate, where you can still get a good fry-up if that's what you need, the Fuel Coffee House is more for a relaxing chat over a cup of good coffee. Friendly and efficient service is provided by Zara, the wife of Golding Barn Garage proprietor Olly, so if you have a car-related problem it might be worth popping across to reception to see if they can help. (I am a satisfied customer of the garage too.)

Fantastic breakfast and service at this boho chic cafe. The vegan breakfast was high quality, hot and well presented - delivious baked tomatoes, spinach and homemade beans. Cakes looked equally amazing but we were being good! Super friendly staff team and a creatively designed space. Just gorgeous and a fabulous way to start your day too!

Having enjoyed many meals here before we were extremely disappointed this time. We went out of our way to make this visit for afternoon tea on a Sunday afternoon.Don't confuse my comments with their excellent bakery/shop adjacent to the cafe area. Unfortunately, we had sat down o give our order before realising the floor was absolutely filthy. It looked as though nobody had cleaned for more than a day! We sat near the entrance and when we looked closer we realised that no-one had cleaned or vacuumed there either. The young lady who served us was pleasant but unenthusiastic. We had tea/coffee and gateaux - nice but we did not enjoy our surroundings and left as soon as we could. As usual I bought bread. pies and cakes in the shop where I was met with their usual good humour and efficiency. What a contrast!

We were looking for something to eat off the Main Street. We came across on the back street Hectors Shed. We were both delighted by having 2 mugs of builders tea. My partner enjoyed scramble egg on toast and I had a bacon bagel. Very tasty washed down by the builders tea. A great little cafe off the Main Street.

We have a very chilled out space which is child and dog friendly serving great homemade food and phenomenal cakes and pastries as well as cheese and charcuterie boards, antipasti and a small but great quality wine list.
Pleasant rustic ambience and organic shop next door. They will thankfully do HALF PORTIONS of sourdough toast with scrambled eggs. Only comment is that it is the wrong bread for toasting, consequently the edge is crispy but the rest is SOGGY! Would have something else next time! Coffee looked good. My friend uses the place on a regular basis and sings itâs praises.

Called 3 times to alter booking from 3 people to 2. No one answered. Phoned through to shop who eventually answered and struggled to understand I wanted to change booking not ringing to book for first time. Arrived at 1pm to a sour faced welcome from the women who then shouted at us. Anyway, took a while to get served, ordered and when food arrived my meal was wrong. Told it would take another 10 mins whilst my friend already had his burger. Is this ok she said? I said not really so waitress offered to knock our 2 drinks off the bill. My salmon noodles were ok but not worth £14. There was a hair at bottom of plate. At this point I started to feel sorry for the young and obviously inexperienced waitresses. It was also my friendâs bday lunch and I didnât want to make a scene so didnât say anything. Asked for dessert menu as friend wanted after main and in end had to go to front desk and get myself. Also for the second jug of water which never appeared. Bill also never appeared after asking twice so went to desk to ask for. 2 waitresses having a chat whilst one was doing her lipgloss and the other then went on to fold napkins. Bill was wrong! The 2 drinks were still on there. Went back to desk. Older lady poss manager with the sour face was there. Exchange went like this:Hi. Sorry to say the service has been very poor.Really? In what way?My bill is wrong, the service has been slow, my main meal was wrong and then there was a hair in it.Please step away from desk to discuss with me. Iâm ok thanks. Need to leave as parking running out. Happy to email you. You should have said you werenât happy at time (from sour faced to angry at this point)Well Iâm saying now and Iâm afraid the trip adviser review isnât going to be great eitherI wonât charge you.Thatâs fine but still going to be an honest review.Luckily my friend was in loo so didnât hear any of this. Used toilet before left and as we did she followed behind us and shouted very loudly something like I am sorry it was such a disappointing meal. I said shouting us in front of your other customers isnât going to help surely? And we left swiftly.Rude rude rude. Been for dinner, charity meals here and other lunches with whole family and itâs been ok before. Will not be going back. Expensive, badly run and little bit pretentious to be honest.Stick with Steyning Team Rooms people.
