Visited with my 8 year old daughter and my wife for lunch. A great choice on the menu, lovely coffee and good food. They were busy for a Monday and this seems a popular place to eat as it has low prices and great food.

Born in the Borders is an award winning provenance based visitor centre located just outside Jedburgh show casing the very best produce the region has to offer. . A farm diversification project, the site is home to a brewery making quality craft ale from
Visited with OH and didnât receive a particularly warm welcome. Mainly young female staff who will smile at a push, but devoid of any warmth. Limited vegetarian options - I had boiled eggs and soldiers. OH had a lamb sandwich. Oat milk available. Victoria Sponge was nice but very sweet. With 2 teas (need better teapots) and 2 lattes, bill came to just under £24. When paying it felt as though waitress was awaiting a tip. I wouldn't have returned but OH liked it so we visited again 3 days later. I had eggs and soldiers again (unbuttered today) and OH had a bacon and black pudding roll. With 2 teas (another leaky pot), 2 lattes and a generous slice of lovely gingerbread cake, bill came to just over £20. OH bought some beers from the brewery and was impressed with their service and choice. Clean toilets. Osprey footage in cafe. River walks nearby. Outside seating in walled courtyard. Play area for little ones. Lovely set up but staff really need to make more of an effort in making customers feel valued. A warm smile costs nothing. On both occasions it was fellow customers who made it memorable!

When securing our tickets for the Abbotsford visit we were advised last orders were at 16 30. On completing our visit around 15 30 we arrived at the restaurant to be told that they stopped serving meals at 15 00. Slightly disappointed we settled for soup but sadly it was not what we expected. Disappointing version of a favourite soup. The young staff were enthusiastic and welcoming but the experience disappointing after a great visit to Abbotsford.Hello Richard. Many thanks for the review and apologies for the confusion in serving times in the cafe. The cooked lunch meal service ends at 15:00 with sandwiches, soups and sweet treats still available right through until 16:30 and beyond if the nice weather allows! We will ensure that all the welcome team downstairs are aware of these timings and review signage to avoid any further confusion. We've sent a direct message to ask about the soup and look forward to further feedback on that.Warn regardsMark

Called hear whilste we were out and about for the day. The place was pretty ful but we found a table on the lower deck and ordered the food. My wife is gluten and dairy intolerant so she ordered ham, peas and chips, whilst I ordered a quiche salad. We then sat there for about 25 minutes until the food arrived. My wifes "gluten" free meal was delivered as a steak pie and my quiche salad was nothing more than a piece of quiche with a couple of lettuce leaves. We immediatly complained and the waitress took them away saying she had brought the wrong order.A further 30 minutes passed before the correct food finally arrived,I will say that the food was very good when it finally got to us but the sevice was very poor throughout.Hi,Thank you for reviewing us, and I can only apologise that your visit wasn't as it should have been.We do get quite busy, but that's no excuse for the mix up in your order and we can only say we are sorry that this happened and extended your waiting time even further.I appreciate you taking the time to bring this to my attention.Your custom is important to us and I do hope you will give us another visit.Kind regardsJohn And Lynda

We went to the delightful little town of Melrose to visit the Abbey, which was fantastic. BUT in the process went into Abbey Fine Wines & Cafe to try what my friend said was simply the best scone she has ever had. She was correct, I have never had a scone that was this moist & flavorful; simply amazing. In the process of browsing through the spirits & wine as we enjoyed our coffee & scones, we also found a few things that would travel better in our suitcases than the scones! Special thanks to Malcom Smith for his assistance in making our selections.

Nice cafe next to the coach/car park with good range of food. We had excellent scones (cheese and fruit). Coffee was disappointing as it was weak, not like Illy coffee usually is.
