award winning cafe situated in the heart of Skibbereen town. serving breakfast & lunch using the best of West Cork produce and agreat selection of cakes & desserts all baked on site.
Had a few hours to kill recently in Skibbereen and decided to have lunch at Kalbos. I had eaten before at the art gallery place but it was my fist time at the cafe on north street. The place was thriving, with a lot of locals mixed in with some tourists. The service was very pleasant and friendly. I had the beef stir fry, amd it was top notch. You could taste the fresh vegetabgles and the meat was tender and tasty. I love these local businesses that excel at what they do and the world would be a better place if we had more of them and less of the large franchises. Well done Kalbos, I will be back.

As a regular visitor to the restaurant with my family I must say that the service and atmosphere has always been top class. The small staff team really work well together to put the customers at ease. The French waitress as previously reviewed has always gone above and beyond for my family. Always remembering my gluten intolerance and my sons less serious aversion to onions :p Whilst waiting for our order to be taken a few days ago I did overhear a group at a table of what my wife described the be a "bratty" teen who made a few comments aiming to belittle the waitress for the amusement of the group and what looked like his grandmother watching on. I saw the posture of our favourite waitress drop at this as she continued to take orders and requests. I have always taught my children to be respectful to others and receive respect in return. Our waitress still took our order and was a smiley and pleasant as usual despite being clearly shook by what had happened. I will be returning with my family and hope that if people cannot manner their children or grandchild properly that they would stay at home instead of spoiling the atmosphere for others. Great food and great service. Keep up the good work. Declan
