It is the new Cafe inside the American Swedish Institute
I once spent a summer in Copenhagen working at Herlev Hospital. Lunch was a real treat. The variety and beauty of the smørrebrød was amazing. Toppings like sliced hard boiled egg and radish, salmon, shrimp, ham, and the like, artfully arraigned on a piece of dense, moist rye bread (Rugbrôd) were delicious. I have been unable to find anything like this in Baton Rouge. I asked my daughter to find some in Minneapolis we could try where were there for Thanksgiving. She found FIKA, a restaurant in the American Swedish Institute. Indeed they had smørrebrød, called smorgÃ¥sar at the ASI. They were different from those in Denmark in that they were larger and served on a normal rye bread. I had a SmörgÃ¥sar with shrimp, saffron-lemon aioli, horseradish, dill, soft boiled egg, and lettuce on Danish rye. The rye base was about twice the size of the roggerbrood on the smørrbrød I would get for lunch in Denmark. But it was delicious. My wife had Juniper-spiced Swedish Meatballs served with puréed potatoes, cucumbers, lingonberries and a mustard sauce. My daughter had seared Kodiak Cod with creamed spinach, fennel, white beans, nutmeg, and toasted bread crumbs. We shared a cardamom bread pudding with cinnamon whipped cream and a brandy sauce for dessert. I couldnât resist a glass of Aquavit Great lunch and a beautiful gift shop right next door.

We keep coming here for brunch and bringing our out-of-town visitors. Having 3-4 friends at the table means we get to see and try a number of items. The menu at Keys is pretty expansive and there's something for everyone. And yet...I have a hard time saying no to the Huevos Rancheros. As a regular item on the menu, that's my go-to order if the daily specials fail to catch my eye. Damn good food that fuels you for the full day!The service is always top notch, with a special shout-out to Liana for taking such great care of us. It's great to have such a gem so near to our home!

The perfect place for soup and sandwich but even more perfect for delicious desserts to eat there or purchase from the bakery counter! Delicious corned beef, excellent tomato soup or wild rice specialty of the area.

Wasn't my choice for a birthday celebration and I felt sorry for the guest of honor. Absolutely nothing to make you feel special on your big day. Parking is a pain. The small lots are hard to navigate and street parking is difficult. Service was terrible and our server ignored us most if the evening and the wait time for a condiment request was ridiculous. The food for dinner was not great. I had the salmon and it was dry and overly salty. I wouldn't recommend a celebratory dinner here, there are so many other great options.

Located in the heart of the Linden Hills neighborhood, the Zumbro is a bustling family-owned restaurant serving innovative and delicious takes on favorite breakfast, brunch and lunch items.
We took a long, early morning walk around Lake Harriet and down Minnehaha Parkway with friends and rewarded ourselves with a delicious brunch at Zumbro Cafe in the Linden Hills neighborhood of Minneapolis. The food was fresh and satisfying and our server was fabulous--our coffee cups were always full (and the coffee was always hot) and she attentively took care of our special requests. Among the four of us, we had the Huevos Zumbrosos (tasty--the fresh avocado added color and creamy texture to the egg/queso fresco/homemade salsa, tortilla dish). The Benedict special featured pulled pork instead of ham, and the buckwheat pancakes were a huge hit. We all cleaned our plates!

Mine: soft poached eggs (though I only can ever eat one, even here) over/with black beans and white rice, plantains (maduros) Cuban toast. And that tamarind hot sauce. Sigh. Heavenly. And perfect café con leche. Hers: two pancakes, one mango the other corn. Real bacon. Iced cold brew. Ours: a shaded table outside, after a short wait, even on a late Thursday morning.

Itâs a popular breakfast place in Minneapolis and itâs busy in the morning. Saturday 9AM though we didnât had to wait to be seated. I tried Southwestern Omelette which came with potatoes and bread and I highly recommend this. Robin the server was great and very pleasant.
