Historic 1867 General Store and restaurant in the pretty village of Burrawang in the Southern Highlands of NSW Australia. Open 8am to 4pm every day. Breakfast all day. Lunch until closing. Dine on the sunny veranda, enjoy a cocktail in the shady garden or
On a freezing Sunday, this possy was chosen mostly becauase it boasts a fireplace in the middle of the restaurant and I had not tried it in sometime. Unfortunately due to the wind, the front doors kept swinging open so the effect of the fireplace was quite lost. The chef's are the hero of the dish but the waitstaff can make or break the experience and no matter how good the food is, is the service is wanting, then the overall experience suffers. Unfortunately this was the case this time. Our waiter questioned us sitting at the table after another staff member had seated us. He then was quite unsure of the menu and proceedings. We ordered to be told sometime later that they had run out of what we wanted and we had to reorder which meant quite a wait for food (was busy). But then an hour later I sat and watched later arrivals be served up the exact dish we told was unavailable...... The replacement dish of burramundi however was really tasting and would definately order again and the dessert was perfect for a winter dessert.I am quite sure on a another visit, and I am prepared to give it another go - there is the potential to increase the rating - but for this time, it was somewhat disappointing until next time.....Perfect Winter Dessert and a Barramundi dish worth reordering! That's great news! You are so right about the chefs...they did an awesome job on Sunday...every day actually. Unfortunately, you weren't the only guests who came out, despite the severe wind warnings, to enjoy the fireplace and we did our best to keep it stoked up all day and keep our guests comfortable. We always do. We were fully booked and we also did our best to seat everyone who just turned up. We did have to keep a very close eye on the tables and people who might just pop on a table and hope for the best. Sorry that our question as to whether you had been seated correctly was a problem for you...we never intend to offend. As to the dish that was suddenly available after a period of time? We do run out of the specials occasionally but the kitchen can replenish if they have the time as they did on Sunday. We can only control so much and where we can we do. Some understanding of this would be greatly appreciated. See you again soon.

The ricotta pancakes with bacon, caramel butter and honey cream was heavenly. My husband had pork sausages, beans and a side if mushrooms which he said were great. Coffee was lovely, service was exactly what one would want it to be - friendly and professional. All in all a really enjoyable breakfast. Happily recommend this cafe for breakfast.

We lunched recently at Lucindas and while it was difficult choosing from the tempting pastries, cakes, salads on display we choose the soup of the day and a chicken and mushroom pie which were both delicious.Lucindas is relatively new to Robertson but we have come across her beautiful food previously in Bowral and Mittagong in the Southern Highlands. We also grabbed some muffins to take home and they were scrumptious. If in Robertson, treat yourself, we certainly will.
