A comfortable two-hour drive from Auckland City, The Old Mill Cafe resides opposite Tairua Marina overlooking picturesque Tairua Harbour. Nestled quietly at the base of Paku Hill. Great spot to come for fabulous breakfasts made with free-range eggs and fr
Arrived for a late lunch - no problem. Delicious fish tacos, and the prawn and scallop salad was particularly good. Ate outside on a sunny day. Lovely surroundings, friendly staff. Would definitely recommend.

As part of a day trip out of Auckland we stopped here and I got a beer to enjoy out on the cool front porch. It looked to be the kind of place to just stop and grab a bite or a beer and just do that.

We stopped in for lunch and decided on the beer battered fish and chips.we changed tables twice as the surface on each was sticky. The place wasn't busy so there was no reason for sticky tables, maybe a wipe down could help.I don't know what kind of beer was used but from the look of the fish I would presume a flat, stale dark beer. Maybe there was some left from the previous night. The chips were obviously wholesale from KFC or the like and the fish was stodgy leaving that refreshing taste of congealed fat in the mouth. The coffee however was strong, hot and enjoyable

We had breakfast here on our way out of Tairua. It was delicious! The pancakes were out of this world. They were thin and almost crepe-like. The hot chocolate was the best I had in all of New Zealand. The bacon was scrumptious. I would go back to Tairua just to eat here again.
