When we drive to Ojai, we usually stop for a breakfast / lunch here. It is located on the main street, surrounded by small local shops. Locals have been eating here for many years and we have enjoyed the food and the friendly servers for several years. This time, we sat right by the front window, giving us an opportunity to see the people as they strolled by with their packages. Our drink orders were quickly taken and the menus placed on the table. We got into a conversation immediately about how business was doing and the recent July 4th celebration. We ordered sandwiches which were promptly prepared and served (I had the BLT with avocado which was delicious). The ice teas were freshly prepared and tasted wonderfully refreshing on a warm day. The place is only open for breakfast & lunch so plan appropriately. We always enjoy our stop here.

Upscale casual dining. Updated patio to enjoy great meals and friendly service.
3 women, 3 bakery treats, 3 coffees: There are probably only 6 tables in this small but cozy cafe. We had a ginger scone (huge but slightly dry; tasted more like a gingerbread-molasses spiced scone), boysenberry scone (huge but dry), and a Bear Claw with delicious almond paste. You order at the counter, items were bagged, and coffee serve-yourself. Staff didn't welcome, smile or even talk to us; seemed busy in their own conversations. I wouldn't come back with so many other choices.

We stopped to get a couple of sandwiches for the road. After a lecture about the quality of the limited selections, we were "treated" to chicken tarragon sandwiches that were comprised of ground up chicken and impossible to eat without them becoming a leaking mess. They then compounded the situation by giving us incorrect directions to Santa Monica. Please look for another option.
