Finishing up an afternoon hike with kuchen, bier, and kaffe. Perfection! Nice views from the deck. It rained a bit when we were there, but the deck is covered so it was delightful.

We originally didn't plan to visit the restaurant as we had enough food and drink in our backpacks and were more curious about the views claimed on signs at a trail from Breitachklamm, but seeing its romantic picturesque building, outside seating with a breathtaking view to the mountains and friendly waitress smiling, greeting and inviting from the distance we couldn't resist and had their delicious soup and tea on the terrace. We spent an amazing hour there and it was one of the highlights of our visit in Bavaria.

Ein mit viel Liebe eingerichtetes Café. Sehr sehr leckere und gesunde Mittagsgerichte. Zusätzlich gibt es jeden Tag feinen Kuchen und anderes Gebäck und einen hochwertigen Café! Our party of 9 (4 adults, 5 children) ate at the Almenhof on Christmas night 2014. The food was very reasonably priced and all 9 meals were excellent, catering for those who wanted more traditional fare (eg. the trio of dumplings), local produce (eg. the steaks), as well as fish fingers and chips for one of the children. The live music from the accordion and guitar, with a bit of yodelling thrown in, really added to the atmosphere and was loud enough for us to hear over our chat, but wasn't at all intrusive. Menus were in English, which helped us non-German speakers, although the waitress had a bit of trouble translating the dishes back to German. Overall, it really made our Christmas Day.
