1st time visit for my wife and myself, past it many time, but at last got here with friends. The sun was shining and we had lunch outside overlooking a fishing lake. Very Clean place, friendly staff, food was excellent and reasonably priced. What a gem of a find, will be back for a breakfast !

Four of us dined the night before the UCI World Championship time trials which set off from Northallerton and the restaurant was surprisingly empty.Service was good but the food was a let down.Starters of scallops with prawns and black pudding were tasty but it was really a case of black pudding with scallops (2) and prawns (2). Main course of sea bream with gnocchi in a thick, coagulated, creamy sauce was poor. Over cooked fish, stodgy sea of gnocchi. Not very pleasant really. Had to leave the 'sauce'.Fish and chips got good marks though. No puds. Were the only ones left at that stage.

Have been several visits to Barkers love the shop and atmosphere the fish and chips are gorgeous such good value for money lovely fresh fish which overspills the plate fab chips too. Such a lovely area to sit in too the only problem is it gets very busy so popular. We have only lived here for 6months but always look forward to our visits to Barkers.

We use to eat here quite often ., but have not been for a while because of change in the food , So we gave it another try today , The meal lasagna and chips was served very quickly , but the chips were cold and mushy , We mentioned this to the staff and were given another bowl of chips , unfortunately these were also mushy ( warmed up I think ) So although some meals are nice I would give the chips a miss.

Have been visiting Northallerton for several years, but we have only just found this little gem hidden away.Lovely clean place, waitress service by friendly staff. Only had sausage buns with tea and coffee this time, but we were very impressed. Good value, everything well cooked and fresh. Tea and coffee cups with saucers served on a tray.Excellent, we will be back. Thank you.

Smashing little cafe. Nicely set out, with a good menu, fine food, decent prices, and pleasant people running the place. Well worth popping in to, my wife and I will certainly return sometime soon.

Tried their Afternoon Tea. Plenty to eat, and good quality. It was a shame that I could only select two types of sandwich filling, although I suppose the bonus was that you could actually select the fillings.Service was very good. The price, however, was far too much for what you get - but this seems to be the case in most places now.

My husband & I visited this morning Sunday 22/9/19 - we always consider it a treat. NO NO NO! We always enjoy sitting at a table preferably near a window, we always order the same things - a strong cuppa & toast for hubby & a hot chocolate plus toasted tea loaf for me. Today we were informed that we had to find a table, look at the menu, go to the serving desk to order & pay WHAT?!? Our love of the tearoom includes politely being led to a table, our order being taken by one of your lovely staff then after enjoying the lovely food/drinks going to the pay desk where one of your staff always politely asks if everything was ok. Today the lady & gentleman serving were lovely as always but our visit didnât feel the same, the experience was lacking something. Where the pay desk used to be now has an extra bench & table, there was a set of red curtains at the end wall pinned together obviously hiding something - it looked amateurish & unprofessional. Youâre nor a coffee shop, youâre a traditional tea room. If we had wanted a coffee shop/ cafe there was plenty of choice outside. Why make these changes? Itâll be self service next! Cosy up your tea room again - get rid of plain boring beige walls, boring beige table covers etc. YOU HAVE LOST YOUR SPARKLE!Please bear with us we're the same people ,with the same service and good quality food , we're just having a little change to see if we can improve our service even more.
