A farm to table restaurant, with a southern flare, craft cocktails, local beer and wine. Open for Brunch and Dinner through the week.
Located just north of the City Market area, the Homesteader is an upscale establishment, with a small but well varied menu for any taste. Much of the ingredients are locally sourced. I tried two smaller happy hour dishes and both were exceptional. My dishes popped with flavor and were cooked to perfection. My dining companion tried the blackened catfish and was equally impressed. The decor is timeless, comfortable and relaxing; lending to an atmosphere that encourages quiet conversation. The prices are appropriate for the quality of the meal. Portions were large enough to need a take home container, but small enough to allow the dinner to savor each delicious bite and not feel too full. The wait staff is efficient and friendly, well versed in the menu and offering advice if asked. The Homesteader is a hidden gem that should be on every foodies short list of favorite restaurants.

I found out about this place because my girlfriend and I love opera pastries and found that they had them here. Once i did more research, I found that the Opera House had more then just pastries, it's a full coffee house with a grill and bar! We came for brunch, I found the layout to be odd, I had to wait in three separate lines for different things. I get it, it works, it is just different! We started off with a few pastries, which were great! Then I stood in line at the grill and ordered a breakfast burrito, my girlfriend had an omelette. The portions were on the smaller side, but mix that in with pastries and other treats, it's more then enough and tasty! I ordered a mocha and tea, and the coffee portion was great as well! I really liked the atmosphere here, nice how they kept it original looking. Overall, great place, a bit odd, but I liked it!

We came for Sunday brunch. They have an efficient method of letting you know when the table is ready, they text you. The service was very friendly and helpful. We are vegetarian and the menu was well marked and many veggie and vegan options. The portions are very large. We each ordered something else and tasted which was great. Would highly recommend.

There has always been a small restaurant at the âCornerâ in Riverside, Missouri. Enter Ed & Kathi Rule. They had never been in the restaurant business before, but they always felt they knew what good food was all about. It began on May 15, 1983, when they
Busting our daughter who lives in Kansas City and we took her family here for a late breakfast. We were told our wait would be 10 minutes and 30 minutes later we were seated. Waitress came by for drink orders and did not come back to take our food order for another 20 minutes. When she brought our drinks we told her we were ready to order and she said she couldnât take our our because a larger group was seated prior to us. Food was good. Cup of coffee with not worth $2.29. Very busy, very noisy so just make sure you have no other plans when you go here to eat. We appreciate you taking the time to let us know about your experience and we are so sorry that this happened during your visit. Clearly, we fell short of your expectations and ours. If you would be so kind to send your contact information to [email protected], we would like to follow up with you directly. Thank you.

Having heard lots of good things about this place I went for breakfast first time today. It is in a building that was a corner store, and seats about three dozen people. One orders at the counter prior to being seated. My breakfast arrived quickly. It was carefully seasoned and very tasty. I had scrambled eggs, a half order of B&G, and bacon. The coffee is self-serve, high quality. My check was $16.31, so this is not "cheap eats," but high quality, prepared-to-order food.

I thought the concept of "Cafe Gratitude" was to bring in those who cannot afford a fancy meal (prices are not cheap here) and the "haves" and "have nots" could share a table and a meal. That doesn't seem to happen at this location. Apparently, according to our server, the California locations have more of that - people donating to pay it forward so that others who come in can have a subsidized, discounted meal. Anyway, the food was good. Service good. Atmosphere is funky chic - hippy-esque. It is a tasty spot. Would not mind popping in again next time we are in Kansas City.

We came here based on the reviews. The owners were friendly, the bubble tea and spring rolls were good. Gotta say though, flies were an issue. No air conditioning and the door open in July. We thought our Vietnamese place back home was better.

I was at the City Market around lunch time and there was not much for normal people. Then I spotted this Ethiopian place and it was God send. They had a lunch buffett with all the typical Ethiopian dishes. It was filling and wonderful. Try the fresh ginger drink as well.
