My husband, three children and I stayed at the French Island General Store Cottage. It was well equipped with everything we needed. We especially loved the fire pit outside. The food served at the general store was amazing and the owners went out of their way to ensure we were well looked after. The wine from the French Island Vineyard was very nice too. A very much needed quiet break from Melbourne.

With all the food choices in Cowes we tried this tucked away option.Disappointingly at 11.40 the breakfast menu was off but the lunch menu consisted of freshly prepared delectable options. The coffee was good.Only thing is the food choices are fully priced for what you get.But well worth a try

Called in here for Saturday morning coffee with another couple.Bad choice should have kept walking. Rude staff all the wanted to do was talk with the locals and kept us waiting. Cafe was not busy. We decided we would only have coffee and they did not seem interested. Coffee had a burnt taste. Like they had not cleaned the machine after each order. Coffee was only warm. When I complained the guy behind the counter making coffee said that was the way the made it. Well we did not like the way you made it and we are the one.s paying for it. Will not go back there again

Love this place. Friendly staff always welcoming and know my favourite beverage Chilli Choc Chai. So many delicious treats and meals to choose from. Enjoy working my way through the menu. Favourites are the buckwheat pancakes, ancient grain porridge, beefless burger along with the variety of smoothies. Hard to stop there finishing with the many treats. Thankyou for being on the island. My go to place

Went with the family for lunch whilst visiting Philip Island and was not disappointed. The converted church is lovely and the interior furnishings and artwork was so unique and quirky and so interesting. The menu had a good assortment of reasonably priced meals. The kids meals were very generous - especially the calamari salad - it was big enough for an adult main meal. We tried the selection of toasties and Turkish breads and they were very nice and for under $10, great value for money. The artwork on the walls was nice as well as the historical pictures showing the beginnings of the church. Overall a great dining experience.

Great staff and food! Make sure to have a coffee before you go in the memorial if you're tired as it is amazing!

The historical CHURCHILL Island is beautiful as is the setting of the cafe. There are verandas to sit around or outside on the lawns on fine days with lovely views back to the mainland across Western Port. They have an extensive menu from snacks to full meals. Children can play outside in the green paddocks while the adults enjoy drinks in peace!

We felt we deserved a treat after a long walk at Cape Woolamai, so popped in to Burnt Toast. Glad we did - the food was pretty good, prices very reasonable, and service friendly and fast despite lots of customers. I loved my Big Breakfast, my sons really enjoyed their pie n chips and Nutella French toast. Highlight was the gigantic milkshake, probably twice the size you normally get. Only downside was the rather ordinary supermarket freezer style chips with the pie. Overall a good option on an island where prices are generally too high and food quality very poor.
