A friend and I went for a ride to Apple Barrel Cafe and Gift Shop and had a wonderful time! Our lunch was fabulous, and we had lots of fun shopping in there well-stocked gift shop. Wonderful variety of lovely items!! Every employee that we encountered were more than helpful and very pleasant. Can't wait for our next trip!

Our group of six stopped on a Friday for lunch. We wanted a quiet, restful atmosphere, a light meal with quality and excellence in service. The staff was very attentive. This is more of an adult place, tea and sandwich sort of place. The decor is full of antiques and we enjoyed the relaxed moment. There is a gift shop of interesting items just off the entry. Looking for a meal with Mom, or your favorite Aunt - this is the place. It is a destination place! Looking for good wine, the wine cellar out back is fun.Thank you Jack for your review and for stopping in to visit us! We are happy you enjoyed lunch in our Bistro and shopping on all 3 floors along with wine tasting in our Wine Cellar. We hope you will be back to visit us again. Schoharie is a charming town in the Schoharie Valley and is a good focal point for scenic drives and antiquing. The Country Cafe is a simple, homey spot with excellent service and food that is fresh, high quality and surprisingly varied for a small dining spot. The fresh desserts and especially the pies are a big attraction for locals but what draws me back is the selection of well constructed sandwiches like the fresh apple and turkey that is moist and flavorful. The breakfast selection is standard country fare (eggs, hash, etc) prepared with a very personal and skillful touch). The real tip-off about the quality of the food at Country Cafe? For me it was the expertly cooked French fries and sweet potato fries and the quality of the bread they used for the sandwiches. Service is also excellent - this is a great find for a quick and high quality meal.

Small place that we really did not expect much from. We were very surprised! Food was good and our portions were huge. We both had open faced roast beef. Even the gravy was good, which doesn't happen often! Homemade cooking, waitress was nice and funny! In no time, the place was filling up with customers. Also have home made desserts. It's small, older building, but cozy.

Breakfast was good, not great but very expensive. They offer eggs, french toast, pancakes, sausage and bacon. Keep in mind the bacon and sausage are sides and could feed more than one person (cost extra) of course. Better off going to walmart down the block tge night before and grabbing some food.
