Discover Restaurants offering the best Cafe food in Long Beach, California, United States. For some, a tour of the Queen Mary, docked here since its retirement in 1967, evokes waves of nostalgia for the days of the huge ocean liner with its opulent rooms, 1930s deco décor and teakwood decks. Others, particularly the younger set, are entranced by the spine-tingling haunted ship stories on the nighttime ghost tour. But for everyone, a visit to this floating hotel and museum is a must on any trip to Long Beach. At one time a less-than-appealing place to visit, Long Beach has transformed itself into an upscale tourist resort, with many waterfront attractions, including a new, state-of-the-art aquarium with a fabulous shark exhibit, two excellent art museums, charming shops, public golf courses, the annual April Grand Prix international auto race and lots of recreational activities along its eight-mile stretch of beach. Take the kids to the waterfront entertainment complex with rides and live performances or to the farming demonstrations at Rancho Los Alamitos. Feeling romantic? Cruise the canals of Naples (that's right, Naples Island in Long Beach) in a genuine Venetian gondola. One thing is for sure: tensions and stresses dissolve in this laid-back, friendly city.

Ate here one morning while visiting Long Beach. They have promotions for every day of the week that really helps with the budget. Their bacon was crisp and very flavorful, and they got my poached eggs just right. ambience of the place was also warm and staff were very friendly and made sure we had everything we needed. will definitely go back to eat here if i visit Long Beach again

Small, crowded, long wait, no parking, poor service.Long waiting list to be seated and once seated, long wait for service. After a very long wait to order, it still took a long time to get our disgusting tap water (with a lemon). No server appeared to be assigned to our area. Meal took forever and had to ask for silverware .. Really!!! They have Mimosas ($6.75) and various wines & bottled beers. Had the Mexican Mocha coffee ($5.50), which came in a large cup with whipped cream & cinnamon. The Greek Omelette ($9.50) was small and disappointing.El Cubano sandwich ($11.50) came with homemade potato chips and sandwich was loaded with pork.

I used to live in Belmont Heights, so I've always wanted to try the Starling Diner. Its appearance on "Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives" has enhanced its visibility, although it doesn't exploit that limelight obnoxiously (but do look for the caricature and signature of Guy Fieri painted on an interior wall). The décor is cheerful and antique-market chic, the room is light and airy and the clientèle are mostly neighborhood locals, so it's lived-in and comfortable-feeling. We Long Beach citizens love our "down-the-street" breakfast joints, and the Starling Diner elevates the experience with really well-executed breakfast and lunch fare, based on high-quality ingredients (no good California restaurant would serve sub-par produce, you know!). Nothing is dumbed-down here. It's not cheap, but with food this good, it's worth a bit of a splurge. NOTE: Beer and wine, and mixed drinks with wine vodka for the Brunch libation crowd. Bon appétit!!!

French Cuisine, Family Dinning, Creperie, Wine Bar
A nice French cafe with sidewalk seating, good service, affordable prices, and excellent food. They serve more than just crepes. I came for breakfast and they had French toast, omelette, and other things. I did get a breakfast crepe, and it was delicious. I was a little weary that they were buckwheat crepes. This made them a little heartier, less delicate, and gluten free if that matters to you. But they were still delicious. I was just as surprised by the side salad that came with it, which I liked a lot. They have good coffee. At around $20 including tax and tip, itâs not an everyday breakfast. They have lots of specials too, like 1/2 price wine bottles on Monday, three-course fixed price dinner menu on Thursday, and happy hour. I would like to try some of these.

This was the first breakfast place we tried on our vacation and it was my favorite. It had an old-fashioned diner feel to it. The staff was super friendly and attentive. The food was excellent. Our 5YO granddaughter loved the Mickey Mouse pancake. My hash browns were crisp and tender and the bacon was crisp. The poached eggs were cooked perfectly. One thing I definitely appreciated was the fact that it was neither crowded nor noisy. That was the icing on the cake for me.Thank you for your business and your great review.Nick

I had an egg white veggie omelette with fruit and french toast. So good. I liked how there were a lot of menu options which allowed to tailor my breakfast just the way I wanted it. Friendly staff as well.

My friends wanted to dine here for breakfast while visiting the area. The line was long waiting to be seated but thankfully it moved quickly. Great service and very helpful, friendly employees. All of our meals were fresh and delicious.
