Reviews on Cafe food in Kingussie, Scotland, United Kingdom. Kingussie (/kɪŋˈjuːsi/ ( listen) king-EW-see; Scottish Gaelic: Ceann a' Ghiùthsaich pronounced [ˈkʲʰaun̪ˠə ˈʝuːs̪ɪç] ) is a small town in the Badenoch and Strathspey ward of the Highland council area of Scotland. Historically in Inverness-shire, it lies beside the A9 road, although the old route of the A9 serves as the town's main street which has been bypassed since 1979. Kingussie is 42 miles (68 km) south of Inverness, 12 miles (19 km) south of Aviemore, and 3 miles (4.8 km) north of Newtonmore, which is its greatest rival in the game of shinty.

Wanted to take a quick break while enroute to the next destination, and chanced upon this little cafe in the tiny town of Kingussie. It's a homely little cafe serving simple fare. The potato, leek and carrot soup was piping hot and delicious. A nice little pitstop!

We were very glad we chose this cafe in Newtonmore. The ladies here were very friendly and chatty. We had delicious food too, with a great choice. What more could you want! Highly recommend and would definitely go back if we were in the area again.

01540673702 and ask for Barbara or Derek. Newtonmore Grill is on Facebook too - great great restaurant and good value serving everything from lorry drivers to themed nights of curries caribean etc etc
Had breakfast here before heading up Cairngorm for some skiing. Full Scottish for £9.50. Was delicious. Would definitely return next time we stay up there. Note it is a truckstop type place and not a place for a romantic meal for two!!

I was very hesitant to enter as looks unpromising from the outside & smells of frying. However at 3pm after a long walk there wasn't much choice! Dave & Lyn were very friendly, giving quick, attentive service. Most of the food is standard fare (unexciting, but what you'd expect from a café and all prepared fresh), at a good value, but the homemade soup and cheese scone were absolutely delicious and I'd definitely go back just for them. We also enjoyed their tea & fruit scone - another reason to return. Definitely a quaint atmosphere, but very relaxed & welcoming.
