looking to have lunch somewhere that loud music did not detract from a break in driving, we found this restaurant on a stop at Motueka, returning from Abel Tasman...got chatting with the very friendly Chef Ryoko who was interested in my t-shirt's Japanese theme...ordered Karaage Chicken and my partner had the Curry Udon...both meals were awesome.Highly recommendedThank you very much for that, we are so happy that you had a good time with us! Winner of Wild Tomato magazine's best regional rural restaurant 2010 and recommended by both North and South and Cuisine magazines, Riverside Cafe is an integral part of the historic Riverside Community (est.1941). We serve fantastic fair-trade coffee, an
Last enjoyed meals at this unique cafe approx 12 years ago.. management has changed ..and the standard of food is still excellent. If you care about fresh healthy and creative food then do visit. Love love the picturesque little historic cottage covered in vines..enjoyed our meal on the verandah on a warm day..plenty of shade or sunny spots in the garden at the front and back of the cottage with a play area for children at one side..or you can sit inside. Good menu selection with a selection of baked goods on the counter. We both enjoyed hot smoked salmon tender omelettes with a fresh green mix on top and a touch of pesto on the side. Couldn't go past a slice of decadent Chocolate and caramel mud cake and Berry Frangipani slice to follow. Great coffee. Pleasant helpful service.

Do not expect fresh or home cooked meals. Have seen more wholesome ingredients in a KFC family bucket.Staff were rude to a couple of tourists within earshot.Everything on our plates came from a packet, most likely from the freezer.Coffee wasn't terrible.

We return all the time to this cafe. It is in the main street of Motueka and has beautiful hanging baskets around the footpath canopy. The selection of food from delicious and unusual pies, wraps etc, to the European pastries is outstanding and the quality of the food perfect. Quick good service. Our favourite cafe by far in the area. The fact that the cafe is frequented by so many Europeans speaks for itself.

The doughnuts seem to be a big draw card here, and rightly so they are very good. However, we ate here on Sunday night and the food was very good - interesting and tasty. Staff, service and coffee all good to. You must go at least once or twice.Important planning information - they were closed on Monday and Tuesday. Work around that.

There are basically 2 places (restaurants) to eat in Marahau. This is one of them. After a grueling day of tramping (Kiwi for hiking) or ocean kayaking, and you're too tired to even take a shower or change your clothes, and all you want is a cold beer and a relaxing atmosphere, with friendly young wait-persons from around the globe, and plenty of seafood dishes worthy of a place on the ocean shore, and even a wood-fired pizza oven in the casual outdoor seating area, and cozy covered indoor/outdoor seating if it's raining, and a good list of decent local beers (we're in the hops raising capital of NZ here) and local wines, and a quiet cacophony of languages other than your own all around you .... well, even it was wasn't founded by a hippy 40 years ago, it's still a great place to go, relax and eat.

Hooked on Marahau is a cafe and beer garden located on the Marahau waterfront; 1.5Km from the start of the Abel Tasman National Park's Coastal Track. Hooked has arguably the best view in the area with vistas across Tasman Bay and north along the Astrolabe
Wonderful staff, warm ambience, great food (get the lamb). I especially enjoyed the little ritual surrounding the mango icecream.Cheers
