Find out what Cafe restaurants to try in Ithaca. "Ithaca is gorges" can be read on proud t-shirts across New York State, and there is definitely truth in advertising. Sitting on the shores of Cayuga Lake, the largest of the Finger Lakes, the hilly town of Ithaca is surrounded by dense forests, towering waterfalls, and many gorges. The natural beauty has a distinctly academic feel, as local universities have filled the woods with museums and education centers like The Cornell Lab of Ornithology, which features a 220 acre wildlife sanctuary.

This place looks like a throwback to a previous generation, with tables in the hallway of a dilapidated indoor mall. The college town influence is obvious. Cash only!! Breakfast was outstanding and the good coffee free flowing. A very nice break during a driving vacation.

The Carriage House Café is a beautifully restored two-story carriage house with a full-service restaurant on the first floor and bar/lounge on the second floor, known simply as The Loft. Although the original 1850s structure required extensive restoration
Came here on a Saturday morning, greeted by delightful hostess. Hour wait, no biggie we had no where to be and can grab coffee and scones and sit upstairs while you wait. If your in a rush-> leave, there is not a ton of tables so be patient. We were taken to table about an hour later and again greeted by fantastic waitress, they were all so friendly. Ordered the mulled hot cider (to die for) will order over and over, omelette special did not disappoint as well as beet salad! Just go but be patient or plan another time to go.Thank you so much for visiting us and taking the time to provide your feedback! It is true, weekend brunch can be busy and that's why we try to provide a comfy space for our guests to hang out. We hope to serve you again soon!

Based on previous Trip Advisor reviews, we visited here. Small, quaint, historical and very local cafe, which was crowded. The staff were very friendly and helpful. You placed your order at the counter and they brought it out to you and we disposed of our dishes at the designated area. The food selection had some basics but we liked that they also had unique entrees. The food was good and we enjoyed our visit to Coal Yard Cafe.

The limited menu at Allechant means the selections are fresh & original. All of the choices are excellent, & do save room for the amazing desserts. It's great to have a high quality & friendly place to go in the Community Corners area. Allechant is a welcome antidote to the overpriced & pretentious Heights Cafe. Plus the food is better & the service is most friendly. We'll be back!
i happened upon this Little place, once known as the Corner Store, one afternoon, drawn in by the 'Fish Fry' sign outside. That sounded good, so I went in ordered at the friendly counter and was soon delivered a generous portion of Haddock with Fries. After one bite I said 'I know this fish.' It tasted like the fish I used to get at the long ago closed Fulton Fish Market. Sure enough, the owner said that was the recipe he used. I can't say enough, the people are friendly, and the food is great and the atmosphere is old time Ithaca. Stop by, you won't be disappointed. Not that this makes or breaks it, but check out the rest room, all the comforts of home.
