Im Sommer kann man super drauÃen sitzen und Kaffee und Kuchen genieÃen. Auch im Innern ist das Ambiente wirklich schön gemacht. Die Preise sind in Ordnung.

I had breakfast here with a friend. Although they have a nice outside sitting area we preferred to sit inside for our breakfast. We ordered from a breakfast menu and found everything we were looking for - from an extended German spread to a croissant with jam. The service was fast and friendly. The interior matches the historic outside of the building. I enjoyed this cafe very much.
On a beautiful weekend, I took a hike up to the Klippentum. I took the train to Rinteln and its a short walk through a residential area to the woods where the trail is marked with white paint slashes on trees. There aren't any signs for the trailhead until you are halfway up the mountain. It was a good hike and there are two main trails to take. One is a little steeper and shorter as opposed to the other longer and more gradual. A 360 degree view on top is rewarding from the stone tower at the summit. Most rewarding is the little refreshment area in the tower building, where beer, wine, soft drinks and limited cakes are available. If you have a nice weather day, Klippentum is a worthwhile hike.

We stopped in Minden as a halfway point to Berlin from Holland. The town is not on anyones radar, except for the Prussian Museum which we did not see as it was closed for two days. We looked for restaurants on a walk and we would have to tough this one out with average food. Then we discovered Bohmerwald Restaurant. Easily seated by gracious staff who told us of the menu and wines, and the quality of the provisions and preparation. Excellent unique wine list, and small plates for those that are not so hungry. My wife had a braised tenderloin with a latkes, and I had pork shoulder roast with sauerkraut and lightly seasoned bread that must have been steamed to bake. both meals were superb. The pork melted in our mouths, seasoning perfectly, and a delicious Austrian red wine. The owner came to our table and we discussed wines and spirits. Upon leaving he opened a delicious grappa for me to try. What a joy of an evening. Look up the restaurant, it has an interesting history back to 1900. I don't recall how much we paid, and didn't care!
