Their pancakes are particularly good. Servings are plus size so don't order too much. Service is outstanding. Have stopped twice on this trip.

We dropped in based on the positive reviews we read. It's a local gem, nothing exotic, nothing extraordinary, just plain old cookin' like you'd get at a visit to your Grandma's house. We had chicken fried steak and chicken fried chicken, something that comes to mind when remembering going out to eat in the 1950's. We were delighted to be served food that was totally reminiscent of those experiences. It was plain and simple, our meat, corn, and mashed potatoes with white gravy. (We could have chosen brown gravy, but white gravy was more authentic to our 1950's experience.) The extremely generous serving of corn was served in a small bowl, so the juice did not spoil the meat or the potatoes. Good touch. The breaded meat, country fried steak and country fried chicken, was exactly what we were looking for. It was a nostalgic trip, bringing back memories of our parents taking us out to eat as kids. One thing more, the food was pretty much sans salt. We had to salt to taste, unlike most restaurants where salt is liberally applied, whether you are trying to cut back or not. In this case, we added salt (and pepper) to meet our taste needs. At first, it was kind of a shock to need salt, but it was a nice thing. The restaurant is truly an old fashioned diner, easily reminding us of something decades old. It's not run down, but it has a certain "homey" feeling about it.Apparently, it has a very loyal local following. We stuck out like the visitors from out of town, but that's part of the charm of a local favorite. If you are looking to experience "a blast from the past," this is a great place to do it.

Cafe Rio

I love Café Rio. It’s fast Mexican food that is pretty darn delicious. I’ve been to several locations, and they are all comparable. I have no idea how this place can be this horrible, but it is. I keep going back thinking surely they’ve improved, but they honestly just keep getting worse. I’ve been there multiple times, and I’ve never had a good experience. Shame on me for going back! Went there Saturday night at 8 PM. They close at 11 but you would have thought they were closing in 3 minutes. No grilled meats available, and they were out of several sauces. When we asked if they had anymore, the employed pointed to the minute amounts of food sitting out and said, “this is all we have.” This is normal business practice for them. They are ALWAYS out of food, service is slow, and no one seems to care. They forgot to give my son in law the side of Cilantro Ranch he ordered. When he went to ask for it an employee- presumably the manager yelled, “Did he pay for that?” Are you kidding me? No apologies or discounts for being out of all the food we wanted, but she’s going to make sure we paid for 2 tablespoons of Ranch dressing. I know you Café Rio lovers will be tempted to stop here when you’re driving through Heber City, but just don’t. If you’re really jonesing for Mexican food, keep driving on 40 and go to Tony’s Tacos. Corporate, I hope you’re reading these reviews. This franchise is harming your brand.
