Group of ten booked for 6:30pm. Meal order taken just before 7pm. At the same time asked for more water as containers were empty. Then noticed three water glasses short. Somewhere around ten or quarter past seven other party members left the table to get water and glasses. Disappointing service. Meals arrived about the same time. Prices on menu seemed expensive, but size of the meals explained that. No excuse for going home hungry. As well as comments about the large size of the meals, everybody was impressed with how well the food was prepared. Very tasty and right temperature to eat.Also ordered Irish Coffee. Don't bother. Made with Jamiesons whisky, but arrived more like a cocktail than correctly prepared. Strong whisky taste which could have been in any liquid without being coffee. Topped with large dollop of cream which appeared to come from those cream "foam" dispenser cans. If I had seen one first I simply would never have ordered. Totally unlike drinking rich coffee through lightly whipped cream when it is made the way it should be. Tasty, generous meal in good atmosphere, but edge taken off slightly by issues with water and Irish Coffee.Restaurant appeared full just about to capacity. Wait staff seemed to be rushed off their feet as if they were under-staffed.Would we go back? Not Sure.

We appreciated much about this spur of the moment stop over. Cafe very spacious and relaxing - a great variety of food. Thoroughly enjoyed the food my friend and I ordered, all very tasty but definitely spoilt by the spasmodic service. There seemed to be plenty of staff but food was very slow in coming to the table and delivered bit by bit.

The Capri is the "old fashioned" perfect kind of cafe we remember in NZ. Great food at a good price and very friendly helpful staff. Traditional fresh sandwiches with tasty innovative fillings, pies & pastries, great scones and most importantly perfect oyster soup & toast! There are also larger meals available - blue cod, mixed grill, hamburgers etc.The coffee was very good & just as we requested - extra hot!There are very well-serviced toilets.If staying or passing through Gore, the Capri is a must! We travelled from Dunedin & held off a stop just so we could return to the Capri after our first visit 2 years ago.Keep up the good work Capri team you do it very well!

Stopped on the off chance they had something Gluten Free. They only had 2 things, I got both. The Bacon, Egg, Hashbrown slice was amazing and Pumpkin Salad was nice. The coffee was pretty good too. Oh and they provide containers to go.
