I've eaten at the Carnation Cafe many times for breakfast, but never for dinner. I truly enjoyed my meal for my first dinner. The food is purely American fare and I started with Walt's Chili. This was not a spicy chili but savory with good flavor and nice hearty chunks of meat. It was topped with cheese and sour cream. On a cool evening, sitting outdoors on the patio it was perfect!My main course was fried chicken breast with mashed potatoes and seasonal vegetable. There was a country gravy on the potatoes, and you can request to have it on your chicken also, which I recommend. The chicken was served hot right out of the kitchen and the coating was tasty and moist. The mashed potatoes didn't have much flavor, the gravy was missing some flavor also. A roll was served also and it was soft and fresh. There are other menu items, but I liked combining the two items that Walt enjoyed eating. It was a simple hearty meal. Sitting out on the patio was pleasant as the sun was going down behind the trees of the Jungle Cruise. Reservations are strongly suggested. I showed up early and was accommodated way before my scheduled time. This is a Main Street classic and I enjoyed!

Our family of 7 had dinner here, something for everyone and all good. I had the BELT sandwich (BLT with over easy egg in it). Big, messy, and delicious. Everyone was happy with their meal, good variety menu.Tables are a little cramped but they feed a lot of people quickly.

This is a quick way to grab a bite. The food was good but they only serve soup bowls. Last year we had the steak jambalaya and it was delecious so we looked forward to having it again. Even though it was listed on the menu it was actually a Lousiana stew that was served. Although it was good we were disappointed. There is a drawback that there are only 10 tables so try to go during off times for lunch or dinner. We were told that we could take our trays over to the French Market resturant to find a table so that worked out. The food was good but we will be sure to verify it's really the steak that we are getting.
