Fortrose (Scottish Gaelic: A' Chananaich, Scots: Chainry) is a town and former burgh in the Scottish Highlands. It is on the Moray Firth, about 6 miles (9.7 km) north-east of Inverness. The town is known for its ruined 13th century cathedral, and as the home of the Brahan Seer. In the Middle Ages it was the seat of the bishopric of Ross. The Cathedral was largely demolished in the mid-seventeenth century by Oliver Cromwell to provide building materials for a citadel at Inverness. The vaulted south aisle, with bell-tower, and a detached chapter house (used as the tollbooth of Fortrose after the Reformation) remain. These fragments, though modest in scale, display considerable architectural refinement, and are in the care of Historic Scotland (no entrance charge). The burgh is a popular location for trying to spot bottlenose dolphins (see Chanonry Point) in the Moray Firth.

Bright friendly cafe in Fortrose to suit all age groups. We have a fully kitted out disabled toilet. The cafe is wheelchair friendly. For the kiddywinkles we have a selection of toys to keep them amused, leaving mums and dads peace to enjoy the fabulous f
The fact that the cafe was very busy was an excellent sign and this was reflected intuit the service was really good. We also enjoyed the lunch and the cakes were as good as we have had anywhere.
Only open weekends, but worth the wait, amazing homemade food, very reasonable prices, in s lovely spot over looking the harbour. A little odd as it's a hairdressers during the week! But the homemade cake meant we ate there twice and got takeaway once! A must visit! Gemxx

Popular cafe in the heart of inverness. We focus on speciality coffee, breakfast and brunch, using nothing but the highest quality ingredients. We use the stunning Victoria Arduino Black Eagle alongside some unforgettable coffee roasted by Square Mile.

Home cooked food and very reasonable prices. Large dining area which sometimes can be a bit cold. Great welcome and fast service. Food is what i would call average although the macaroni cheese is very good.
