Taigh a Ghobha - The Smithy - has ceased trading as a licensed cafe/restaurant due to owner retiring.
Been twice now and loved it both times. Food is so fresh and tasty. Parking can be a little tricky so take that into account. But its just down from the castle or up from shopping centre so if you can't get outside, you can walk! Well worth it

We enjoyed our full Scottish breakfast and Coronation jacket potato with a pot of tea for under £20.The service was friendly, personal and warm. We left physically and spiritually nourished as we met a lovely couple whom we connected like old friends and shared our faith experiences of Jesus'love for us.

Visited today and we were seated quickly by friendly staff who kindly gave my 6 year old daughter some colouring in pencils and a book to keep her amused.I had the coronation chicken special sandwich - it was very well presented and extremely tasty. My daughter had pancakes with fruit and cream from the kids menu that she loved. Large flat white coffee was perfect with latte art on top and was served at a good temperature. No cake for us today as these dishes were so filling but the cakes are always delicious in the Hideaway!Great service, keep it up. Thanks!

Dropped in on the way through the town. As usual the service and food quality was excellent. The medium haddock and chips is a great joice although there are plenty of other really nice items on the menu.Well worth a visit if you are in the area.

Stopped off in Doune with couple of work colleagues and came across this little cafe/takeaway place, ordered some "butties" which were absolutely superb, fresh produce and incredibly tasty. We were served by,I assume,Sarah who was very bubbly and welcoming,in short hot freshly prepared butties which were excellent value compared to other places we had visited, top notch.

Took the classic tour round the distillery which was interesting. Decided to try the coffee bothy for lunch as the menu looked good and inviting atmosphere. We both chose from the specials. I had the lentil & haggis soup and my wife the yellow split pea soup both came with large thick slices of delicious fresh crusty whole meal bread and large bowls of the soup. Both delicious and filling. We decided to finish with cake as they looked so nice. Victoria sponge and belgium chocolate. Good sized portions which they boxed for us to take for later. Very well priced and well made food. Friendly staff. The sandwiches and other lunches being served looked equally as good. Would make a trip here again for lunch/coffee if in the area.

We stopped here for a rest on the way back home. A very relaxing environment created by the building, layout and decor. The cafe food is very good quality. We were at coffee time but one of us had the fantastic breakfast stack. The breakfast being served to others looked super. The scones were fresh and it’s good to see a regular specials option also. It’s all really fresh and far better quality than most places. We bought sausages from the butchers also. These are the best I’ve had in Scotland... ever! Will be back sooner next time. Brilliant! The best sausages in Scotland is quite the accolade and we're delighted that you think so. They're made by our Smiddy butchers are served with our breakfasts, as well as being for sale from the butchery.Hope to see you again soon.

Taste of Scotland awarded cafe boasting a varied menu of freshly prepared, local produce. Breakfast, lunch, Award winning home baking & Italian coffee. Fantastic Gluten free choices. Situated next to The Scottish Antique Centre and with an alfresco dinnin
We visited on Sunday at lunchtime and the cafe was very busy so we sat outside. With a wheelchair and two small dogs it was also an easier option, although the cafe is dog friendly. My husband had an open chicken sandwich topped with bacon which he enjoyed. Dad had the soup, which he described as ‘watery’. It certainly looked that way and for £5.50, something more substantial was expected. I was looking for a vegetarian sandwich and asked for cheese. What arrived was two doorsteps of bread with some grated cheese, carrot and lettuce in between. No side salad, crisps or the usual trimmings you might expect. I was very disappointed, but when I looked at the receipt on arriving home to check the cost of the boring cheese sandwich, I was actually quite disgusted to discover it had cost me £7.90. And for £3.20, my husbands coffee was cold. I started by saying the cafe was busy, but that’s no excuse for overpriced, underwhelming fare.

Situated in the small village of Doune, Perthshire a short distance away from Dunblane, Stirling and Callander as well as The Trossachs National Park. Doune is famed for its Castle, the setting of the film 'Monty Python and the Holy Grail' as well as the
The first time we visited we were glad to snag the last seat inside. This time (following GOT and Outlander filming at Doune Castle) there were no seats inside but we found that they had moved to seats outside so we snagged one. Even as busy as it was we got quick service (as unlike inside outside was table service). I got a great bowl of soup and bread and my husband got a very tasty wrap of some sort. We would suggest this nice little cafe for a good breakfast or lunch or both!Thank you for taking the time to post a review. We are delighted you enjoyed yourself so much the first time that you returned. You are correct in saying that not only do we have seating in the main cafe but also our rear room (which you have to go outside to access) and of course our outside seating for when the weather permits! It’s only fair to point out though that all areas of the cafe are table service. Thank you again for your great review - all the staff very much appreciate it.
