A lovely homely café, with stunning cakes and great lunches. We have been a few times now and have always enjoyed what we have chosen. All the cakes are homemade and yummy, the scones too. We have tried the sandwiches and the jacket potatoes and the omelettes. Their coronation chicken is amazing. We still have to try the afternoon tea, as the pictures are mouth-wateringly good.

Best scones on the planet. Iâve given up having them anywhere else, they always suffer by comparison. Quiche is also superb. The sandwiches are excellent and they will customize them according to your preferences. Wait staff is cheery and have been there for years. From the street it looks like a hole in the wall; itâs patronized mainly by the locals. A find.

We had my Nanaâs wake here 2 years ago as her funeral was at the Crematorian next door. It was as lovely as a sad day like that could be, the staff did a lovely job of setting up an afternoon tea for everyone in one of their function rooms.Skip ahead 2 years and we still regularly visit here, most recently for the 2 year anniversary of my nana passing. I just love how even though you are technically on a main road youâd never know with all the lovely foliage and wildlife roaming around, itâs truly is itâs namesake and a secret garden.I was also pleasantly surprised to see that they now offered a few gluten free options, I.e you could swap for GF bread on your sandwiches. Not many options but still nice to see they are listening and accommodating to different needs.Iâd absolutely love it if they started doing a GF afternoon tea or even just a GF scone! But overall still love this place and the memories it provides also:)

A truly gentle, lovely sunshine day in beautiful surroundings. The young staff are commended for their efficiency, smiles, excellent and speedy service despite the busyness of the day. The 50 minute river trip was tranquil with a young but utterly polite and charming skipper. Opportunity to step out of the rat race, breathe in the river, the fresh cut grass, the vista of the sky, the snuffling dogs along the river bank, the still fishermen and women, the moorhens lily pad hopping, and children and adults happily paddle boarding in the calm stream. Genuinely a place to slow right down and delight in the âmiddle of nowhereâ calm beauty. Visit, slow down, take yourself for a walk, hold hands with your nearest, take the dog for a walk, take the family for a walk, take your soul for a walk. Visit!
